You can tell she is unemployed right now for certain.
And I'd enjoy it a whole lot more if the weather wasn't so darn tooting miserable! 😆

The chickens are all grumpy, Blanche is going to drive me nuts, she went and hauled poor Fluffy out of the nest forcably and proceeded to beat on her.

They don't want to go outside, it's either rainy, sleet, wet snow... Windy, brrrrrrr!

I cleared out the office/feedroom, opened the laminate flooring boxes so they could warm up in preparation for installing tomorrow.

Will need to put the chicks someplace safe tomorrow, where the crazy chooks can't get at them, I had to place netting over the trough they are currently in as they are getting really good at flying.

If i play recorded videos from my iPhone @Ponypoor sings , Jaffar will start crowing along with the music 🎶
I haven't had time to sing much, not to mention it's so chilly and miserable.

But yesterday I had this thing for singing Bedknobs and Broomsticks songs - I need to download and watch again been years since I saw, anywhoooo Mr P was not impressed and let me know 😁

Of course he wasn’t impressed, that’s a Disney film. Mr. P has class to dislike Disney as I do!

Farewell

My Ginger left us and went to chicken heaven, in the morning of April 24th, 2023. She was 25 months old. She stayed with us for her first 17 months and was the unquestionable alpha hen.

I am very fortunate that this is the first time I lost one in my 25+ months of chicken keeping, if she even counts as we rehomed her 8 months ago. (knock on wood)

We picked up Ginger and 7 other babies on March 12th, 2021 at our local feed store. I am pretty sure they got their chicks from some big hatchery.

Ginger was a freedom lover. She got out of the fence all the time.

She is the best with treats and a great forager.

She's named Ginger because we were not creative with names and she was the darkest among all golden buffs.

She was not overly sweet. But when she wants to be on your lap, she really let you know and demanded to be picked up.

In August 2022, Inky was bullied very bad by Ginger (perhaps because Inky molted after going broody) so we sent Ginger to my friend.

Goodbye, Ginger, we will always remember you. We will keep talking about you as the escape artist. I am glad that you are pain free now.
