I like their names. And they look really nice! Beethoven is one of my favourite composers.
Somebody once asked me why Beethoven killed all his chickens... See if you can figure that one out...

Beethoven is one of my heroes.

But I don't know why he killed his chickens...

I do know what his favorite fruit was though!

Very pretty I thought of getting one of those hens but they aren’t cold hardy apparently.

I've thought about them too. Fantastic free range, don't do well with confinement, very alert....They're perfect for me! Oh, wait! Fayoumis are from Egypt and don't do well with cold temps. Drat! So much for that idea. If we ever move someplace without snow/freezing winter temps, they're going to the top of the list as long as keeping chickens in a free range (no run) environment is a possibility.

I could be wrong but am pretty sure regular tax can be any chicken pic. SHRA tax is the one that requires multiple chickens.

Well better out than in, did she eat the egg? Those I give to my gals as a treat - I put them in their feed bowl though so they only associate the broken eggs with eating in a bowl. And I put the shell in a separate bowl crushed up.

My gals have been pooping all sorts of poo, black very soft also. I am putting it down to digging in the dirt and leaves and eating grass after being in all winter.

They sure look happy and lovely rooting around in the dirt

When I was in Egypt I never saw any of those hahaha, lots of regular Ol chickens- barred rocks, RIR types, etc. and an annoying rooster who woke everyone up at 4am.

I wonder who over there breeds/keeps them, it’s a developing country and people over there don’t care if something is a pure breed (except for the Arabian Horses whos bloodlines are controlled by the Egyptian Ag Org), it must be ex-pats living there who are maintaining this as a breed. I would love to know more about their history!
