Oh, Kelly. Dare I ask how this little one is doing? @Ponypoor
Thanks for asking Michelle - thriving well.

There is a story to this whole thing.

Due to situation beyond my control I needed to re-home the 10 chicks (this is why you are only seeing the other 3), the young lady who now has them was very eager to get them so I am happy. At the time they went to her place all the chicks were thriving including the wee one, they were running and flapping around and growing.

At the moment all I have are the three eggs from my hens.

EDIT: Only a few knew this but since everyone seems curious it’s best to just clarify things.

And what a adorable gremlin she is. Although I have to ask. To get that look from her what had you done to Mr. P. That is a "I'm about to beat you up" look if I've ever saw one.
I was trying to get them to go to bed early and they were having none of it!

Next time I trim Mr P I will video it, and you can hear him screaming and see Marty thumping me!

Kelly, I am envious that you have room for all those checks. That is so awesome. I’m planning get four and that’s probably my max to add to my seven. I’ve been up to two more than that before, and since I don’t have as much space as you, I try not to keep them too crowded.
15 will be my magic number - right now I have a Marty chick that if it’s a pullet I will keep, and a Sophia chick and if it’s a pullet will keep.

That will be 15.

Yes it’s really great that I have this space here. And in the winter they have a blast roaming the barn, jumping all over everything, pooping everywhere hahahaha.

I use old sheets to cover my hay so that the horses don’t have poopy hay 😆 also helps me not to have cecal poop on the bale stings when I grab them 😁

But even though I have a ton of space I know my limit for the number I can care for 🥰 and interact with.

I cannot wait to see the chicks that you get ❤️

That’s a very good point. It’s not just how many you can fit, but how many you can care for. My youngest hens will be three in August, so there could be some health issues coming up. Little Mill (age six) definitely has something going on, but still seems to be enjoying her life. Today I gave her a full 81 mg aspirin and a good dose of CBD and she’s having a great day. She has been very active and keeping up with the rest of them, which I love to see.

Hey Rebecca
Check out Henny Penny with the Chicklets…

How old are the Chicklets now? I like how Henny Penny is interacting with them. She is giving off "Baby sitting" vibes like Branch gives off. I really think in another week they will be big enough she could join them for full time baby sitting duty.

My hens are trying to kill me. Ducky came up missing last night. I had saw her a hour before dark and when it was time to roost I looked for a hour. No feather's no nothing and no Ducky. Looked all day nothing. My neighbor told me a hour ago there was a egg behind his building. I go look, spot a egg, with grey feathers attached to it. Ok, weird. I happen to have my flashlight with me, crouch down and look under the building. Dang it Ducky! She has learned from the best, smack dab under the middle of the building out of my reach. I do not know how many eggs she is sitting on. I did not even know she was laying. All that matters is she is alive. Now, to curb the urges to strangle Momma Hen from teaching her all her tricks.
