Foot is pretty sore and stiff today. So need to elevate and stretch more today. But overall it is ok.
I got the food hanger in with the toys I bought on Amazon. It isn’t really macrame, just knotted rope, but a macrame hanger is a good idea. Smallest thing I have tried so far is 1/4 of a cabbage head. Here is a zoomed in pic from Amazon.

I just can’t manage it this year. I am just now able to get around a little better, and my DH is having rotator cuff surgery in less than two weeks. This makes it really difficult to even think about setting up an area for her to brood and raise chicks. Not to mention I still don’t have a secure outdoor area for them, and supervised time out is difficult. This is something we are discussing making improvements, but it has to wait until he is fully recovered from his surgery which will be at least 3-6 months. Not to mention he will only be getting about 40% pay until he can work again. It just isn’t in the cards this year.

@Pastel The Rooster has Guinea’s and might have some insight as to why they are terrorizing the chooks.
Ah, sorry for my long absence. My guineas attack Pastel all the time whenever I let him peck around outside.
Today a huge fight broke our between them. Guineas have very big personalities for their small size. They think that they can take something even twice their size on.
Guineas are actually known to kill roosters. I honestly don't know that much about how or why they do, but I'd try to separate them. If not then you may need to re-home the trouble making guineas.
I've seen YT videos about how chickens would hide from guineas, and once the guineas were rehomed, the chickens were fine.
It's quite interesting. I'm not so sure though.
I am trying to re-home some of my guineas, as my dad said that I can get some more chickens if I do 😛
I'm gonna find the weekly synopsis now, and I have tons to catch up on.
Hope all is well!!

I will try for some video of her whining 😆

they need really warm housing as chicks, mine are in my feed room which is heated to 19c during the day (at night I lower it to 17c as they are sleeping under the brooder plate), they have the brooder plate to hang out under any time they want where it’s dark and warm and safe.

But if it isn’t warm when they are not under the brooder plate they will get chilled quickly.

I spent 2 nights up with that one chick last week, making sure she drank and ate. Round the clock every couple hrs. They are like human babies. You are mama hen you need to make sure they have everything she would supply.

Good luck with the wee gal 💕
How are all the babies? How many of your chooks chicks hatched? What about the Belifelders?

Main reason being the Guineas terrorize the chickens to include our toughest roosters. We don't have much predator pressure here. I'd love to leave the Guineas out 24/7. We have plenty of tall trees for them to roost in. Lety doesn't like putting the Guineas outside but while I'm home I like to let them free range. Over time I hope to get the Guineas and the chickens use to each other. I acquired a female Guinea in hopes that it will distract the boys from the chickens. Time will tell if that works. I've seen Guinea flocks and chickens share the same range so I know it's possible.
I have found that having an even number of male guineas to females helps with fighting between guineas.

I am getting rid of some of my babies and keeping a few to make my number even. I am getting rid of one problem making adult male, and I will have 3 male guineas. I will have two females. I am keeping 2 baby females, and one baby male.
Russell in fact, because I can't get rid of my broken toe baby! So, 4 males, 4 females. And then Pie and Ditz are separate from everyone.
Ridges went broody, and I have her in a cage to broody break that crazy guinea. I don't think that it's worked yet 🤣

Health update: after speaking with my doctor Friday. The increased dose of BP medication, has already lowered my blood pressure. So I’m at average 138 over 78 with some increases, but no spikes or drops whenever I test (four times a day) I miss the taste of salt and frozen dinners, but whatever! :idunno
But enough about me. What do you guys think of me? :lau
By the way, I will be taking a trip very soon to CO. 🛩️View attachment 3487815

Everyone is different of course - but to provide a ray of hope, my close friend had rotator cuff surgery last year. He is in his mid 70s and it didn’t take anything like 6 months for full recovery.
He was obsessive about doing his post op exercises of course.
Hope all goes well.
I am glad your friend had such a good result. My mom also recovered in 3-4 months. But when my husband had this surgery on his other side, he still had only gotten back about 75% of his strength and range of motion after six months. There are several reasons for this. He had full thickness tears in two of the tendons plus a torn bicep, and he is horrible about doing his exercises at home. He tries to just “work his shoulder” instead. Bad news is this shoulder is even worse than the last one. 😳
