And Then There Were 6
I have tragic news everyone. We lost Betty today. While free ranging today she fell into the pool. I have no idea how or why. None of the chickens go anywhere near the pool and yet she fell in. Before Mrs BY Bob could get her out she passed away due to hypothermia. The water is still quite cold.

I buried her between the two Blueberry bushes that Hattie bought. I will post a tribute to her later this week but her is the last photo I ever took of her.

Yet another hen lost too soon. Mrs BY Bob is inconsolable. She blames herself of course and Betty was one of her special girls.

I myself feel as though I'm getting numb to the losses. I'm going to try and spend time with everyone who is left tomorrow morning. I need to try to reconnect with them.
:hugs :hugs to both you and Mrs BY Bob. :hugs I’m so very sorry, you all have been through so much heartache. Your feeling numb is a way to cope as you probably know, kind of a form of shock. It’s temporary, & you’re aware of it. You’ve had a lot of losses, this is what you need right now. Let yourself be comforted with everyone else, and let yourself just be, however that is. :hugs :hugs

AND, to contribute to my fortune in having Archer here for a week, my EE hatching eggs arrived yesterday! (Or, to put it more precisely, I picked them up.) But anyway, they are set now! I have one that is almost as big as a duck egg. One that is speckled. And one that is dark blue. I even have one that is pink! I am so excited for the eggs to hatch. I really like the chipmunk-ish look that the ee's that have ear tufts have.

I felt that way when Copper died. Because I was the one who killed my favorite pullet.

Be careful heed all storm warnings (don’t be like me and turn off your phone warning system and miss a tornado warning), it’s been miserable here but as soon as the sun came out at around 4pm the chooks ran outside and proceeded to dig in the soggy leaves for bugs and such.

The storm appears to have moved somewhere else. We don't get tornadoes here. I'v had people ask my sister if we were getting ready for the hurricane. And I've been asked to send photos of the Tesla factory. In Austin. Eight hours away. :lau :th

Finally, after 2 months of sick and in pain, the dr sent in a rx for pain. Geez its about time I have only been to the ER 5 times and racked up about 50k in medical bills.
