I really like the BR/Silky rooster.

SMH @ myself this Sunday morning. Woke up @ peace thinking all would be less hectic today. Nope nope and nope again.

Waterer leaked everywhere. Brownie didn't move to a dry spot her underneath is soaked most of the chicks are as well. Got all that cleaned up, I will go get move shaving later today.

Then as I am sitting there watching the chicks for a few moments I noticed one of them has poopy butt. Mama will not take care of this correct??
I will have to remove that chick clean it up and return it, yes?

Awwwwwwww 🥰

So adorable, that’s the pup that was sick right?
No, Chester is too ornery to be sick, lol. Star who is a German shepherd mix was sick but you can't tell that now. The girl is into everything. Just waiting for the virus to be expelled. The vet said it can take a month before she tests negative. She is a sweetheart and we will rehome her with no issues just want to make certain that she is 100% healthy before we let her go.

I don’t know so hopefully someone else will chime in.
But, I followed @Ponypoor’s direction and used a damp cotton ball on my one poopy butt chick and it took all of 3 seconds to be nice and clean.
I do think wet chicks is not good so can you get Brownie into somewhere dry with them under her so they can stay warm and dry off? Can you dry her off with a hair dryer maybe?

Ty, I can do that for the poopy butt.

I cleaned out all the wet bedding. About a third of the tent was effected. I can not for the life of figure out why she simply didn’t move to the other side, but she didn't. I immediately got them to a dry spot, about half of them are wet, pretty soaked. 2 are perfectly dry. The dry ones are out eating the others are under her up in her wings. I am gonna try and take a few small towels outside and see if I can help them out.

I could bring them into the bathroom and blow them all, it would be interesting as I am certain Brownie would be pretty furious but if it has to be then it does.

Thoughts?

Pony Sunday

What on earth happened to Tapit? He came in 7th - that isn't buying much hay. And that other horse made a bit of hay money!

My lazy nags

Who knows what happened, definitely was not the same horse as he was in his prior races. Oh well, I never bet for real anyway. Just friendly family bets so I am good. It was a good clean race and well deserved to the winner. I would like to see Tapit eventually sire his derby winner. Like Rosie I was very happy to see the good sportsmanship at the end when the jockeys congratulated the winner. Mage was under the radar, 3 previous starts prior with only a maiden win, who saw that horse coming. Lets just see how good he is in 2 weeks at Pimlico in the Preakness.

I was bad yesterday, it was Derby day so during the 7 hour broadcast coverage I did not go outside. I went out early, let everyone out and fed and watered. The chickens were on their own. When it was over it was time to round up the mommas and chicks for the day to put them up. While doing that I spot a pile of white feathers beside the creek. My heart drops and I start looking and trying to count the Marshmallows. I only find 1. Ok panic really sets in and I circle the yard and yup just 1. I run in to ask mom if she had saw them as she had been out several times, she had. She must have realized I was upset about something and she asked if I saw the feathers. YES, yes I have and I am missing 4. She laughs....literally laughs at me. There was nothing funny about my panic, I was missing 4 white chicks and there is a pile of white feathers out back. She then told me Momma Hen had been in rare form and was whipping everybody, cats, dogs and the other chickens. Apparently one of the Marshmallows found themselves in her line of sight and she whipped it pulling out the feathers. Ok, I can breathe a bit now and go back out to find my missing chicks. By the time I get around the house here the 4 missing chicks come.....off the hill. They look at me and then scamper straight into the coop to put themselves to bed like they had been caught red handed in mischief. The Marshmallow mafia is going to drive me crazy before long.
