While I'm sure Hattie suffers from arthritis, she is moving very well right now. She has a spring in her step and is bouncing across the lawn all day. She had never been one to go up on the footstool. It's not her way.
Poor old Hen-Rietta, I’m sure she is feeling the pain today too. She’s slower than usual. But she’s faster than me trying to catch her. (I have some special “vittles” for her)!

Well Ducky is not going to be a momma this time around. We had a bad thunderstorm yesterday afternoon and her nest got flooded. She has abandoned it and is back on the roost this evening. I'm not going to lie I am a little relieved. I already have 16 chicks running around and Ducky cannot have been laying long so her eggs probably were not up to size yet for hatching. If she will hold out for a few months and wants to go broody again late summer or early fall I may let her.

That seems a good thing disappointing that it may be.

All I was doing was closing up the door to her crate. I was not even looking at her chicks and the bat does this. I did not see it coming and thankfully she missed my eye. Momma Hen 1, me 0.

Geez. That was close. She is one scary chicken!
So glad she missed your eye.
