It's warmer, but very mucky from all the rain, we need a nice good HOT breeze to dry things up - but that is not likely. The HOT weather is out west with all the wild fires - crazy year.

I did manage to get the 2 mamas out with the babies this morning for a bit. Those Silkie babies are very 'slow' - the fourth chick which is a mutt is way more advanced, and running and leaping everywhere. Those Silkies are just so darn tiny, and just don't seem to want to follow the mamas. I had to pick them up and bring them back to the Hen House as the mamas were trying their best to scream at them to follow and they wouldn't, the fourth chick no problem, but the other three - nope I hate to call them dumb, but they seem very stupid.

Oh they can eat and pack the grub away, but they just don't seem motivated to run after the mamas.
Sounds like you are going to have to keep tabs on this bunch. That's a little worrisome.

I hear ya - two here I know of, and who knows with those Silkies, and seems that there will be a total of 10 hatched at my nieces school. I am awash is chicks it seems.

I am over the baby thrill also it seems :)
That did not take long. Responsibility is tough.

Yolk sac/membrane & umbilicus?

My turn for a chick with trailing tissue.

My niece texted me that one of the chicks hatched and was trailing tissue; I just received the text as I was mucking out. I told her I would post here on the forum, but she replied back that it dried up and fell off on its own.

These animals are going to stress me out!

So glad it took care of itself ❤️

That honestly sounds kind of boring. Sitting in front of a piece of paper scribbling down obscure stuff. Unless it's about chickens.
I have noticed plenty of spelling mistakes in books I have read. Maybe I should get in touch with the author and let him know so he can fix it.
And I'm sure Ponypoor will demand tax for this. View attachment 3498012
And it's a splendid tax - another of your very beautiful ladies :love

How dare you! Don’t even think about commiserating with me! No way. I will run away, I will hide and you won’t find me!
Btw, what does commiserate mean? :gig
I may have spelt it incorrectly, my phone does crazy things, between American and Canadian spelling of things who can tell anymore!

I will need to pay tax later, there is a serious lack of chicken photos on my laptop - imagine that!

Well I am hoping it has resolved, but will need to just wait and see. It's at the school and I am here at home.

Another chick has hatched - #10 - and my nieces states its very tiny. It is not a Silkie as I didn't give any silkie eggs that I can remember.

While I'm sure Hattie suffers from arthritis, she is moving very well right now. She has a spring in her step and is bouncing across the lawn all day. She had never been one to go up on the footstool. It's not her way.
Oh but hopping up onto something is so undignified and lady-like! Anyone can see under your pettycoats then!
