Ooooo M&M - I hide them in my feed bins so I only remember they are there twice a day when I feed the horses - gee thanks for reminding me - off to get some now!

I recommend them to everyone.

So a little birdie (actually the lady where I board the horses) was telling me that Peavy Mart has chicks - I have never seen chicks there ever before! Maybe they are following TSC... ?

Hope not - but if it wasn't such a drive I would pop down and check them out see what they have, any Orpingtons.... not to buy mind you I am awash in chicklets.

Now I have a longer list. Rooster, Lavender Orpington, Silkie, Salmon Faverolle, and the rest of the ones I don't remember but I know I want.

For a Roo I recommend a Silkie - they are really quiet and small.

Chick Hatching Update.....

And 11th has hatched - my niece told me an hr ago it wasn't doing anything and it seems to have spontaniously hatched! Just waiting to see if the 12th and final egg will hatch.

Those are awesome eggs for an incubator I think.

Wow they are really not settling in are they. Great roost spots though.

As long as they stay contained until we can put them in the freezer, good. As long as they can't hurt anyone else, good. As long as they aren't killing each other, good. If someone pops up wanting a roo before we put them in the freezer, good. I'll figure out a way to catch them in there when I need too.

Well Ducky is not going to be a momma this time around. We had a bad thunderstorm yesterday afternoon and her nest got flooded. She has abandoned it and is back on the roost this evening. I'm not going to lie I am a little relieved. I already have 16 chicks running around and Ducky cannot have been laying long so her eggs probably were not up to size yet for hatching. If she will hold out for a few months and wants to go broody again late summer or early fall I may let her.

Hmmm - well I have to say yes you are likely correct, sad that it happened but good in that she is too young and her eggs likely need maturing. She will go broody again and this time you will be ready for her.
