OMG they are so cute - love their dark wing feathers :)
So these are Jubilee Orpingtons - right? They will look like Lady F? Oh so lovely 💕

Yes I just let mamas wander around freely, I found trying to contain them just caused them too much stress. Now the babies are about 2.5 weeks old and I have noticed that everyone is just getting along much better.

Fluffy and Dorothy seemed to have stopped trying murder each other. Mr P just ignores them all, and the Tweens do their thing.

I did spend a lot of time though in the beginning keeping tabs on everyone and making sure no one got too close to the babies and mamas. Two weeks of doing that and now I can relax a bit and actually run to the house for 7 min to grab lunch hahaha, of course I run back here just as fast - 7 min can be a long time and who knows what sorts of bad things they can get up to!
Yes, they are all English Jubilee Orpington’s just like LF :) I absolutely fell in love with her look. 🥰 I was surprised they hatched out yellow lol 😂 I never looked up what they would look las babies beforehand. Their lovely speckled feathers are just beginning to show themselves.

I have mama and the babies separated from the flock sadly. Peanut is the primary reason why. She is like the crazy unpredictable Auntie in personality. She grabbed one of the chicks by the leg and flung it when Brownie first tried to take them out into the run. The chick was fine but it scared me quite a bit.

I will begin integrating them back around the middle to end of the second week and I hope to have them all in the coop by the end of the third week before Brownie decides she is done 🤞
Ooohhhh...I think I see a cockerel!

They are soooo cute! I'm glad this outing went much better.

FYI: If you like the pen, just for a bit more safety, you can easily zip-tie some plastic mesh/netting to the bottom 6 inches or so. The stuff I linked to (there are lots of different choices out there) is designed like chicken wire, but the holes are smaller, and it has more rigidity than the snow fencing, so would zip-tie quite well. (You could just zip tie the whole height, too, so you don't have to cut it.
I am actually hoping to get a boy so I hope your right! Orpington Roos have a decent reputation so we will see if I can get lucky and land a keeper. No guarantees but I will sure try!

The mesh looks good and I will keep it mind, hopefully they will grow swiftly and be able to be contained by the pen I have for integration but if not I will surely use this stuff, it looks very useful to have handy.

Why Peep of course.....they are all Peep.
Oh, so just like my meaties... They are all Fatness Everdeen (like Katniss Everdeen, instead it is Fatness... Get it?) because they are all so fat. I like to say, "You're so fat Fatness." Then I imagine them saying, "You can't fat-shame me, but you can meat-shame me! I'm not fat, I'm just meaty!"
They are alllllll yellow, allllll white, and you can't tell them apart for the life of you. Except for the biggest one, Queen Fatness, Queen of the meaties. 🤣

I also hate to say it, they are kind of ugly...

Tick on the back of my shoulder.
Handy tick temoving tool - don’t leave home without it.
Two ticks removed and placed in sealed container.
Should I drown them, freeze them, set them alight, or feed them to the chickens?
Have I mentioned how much I hate ticks.
Now I need to check the current Lyme protocol to see if I need prophylactic antibiotics.

Ugh.
