I have not been paying attention to Abigail 's breathing (reading a book). Agathae 's comb is still cyanotic.
What book are you reading ? 😊

I likely owe SHRA tax for asking!

Posting again just because I love this picture of Rico - his wattles are coming in

Mazzie is adorable, and I think you have a winner, but some of mine are going to give it a go anyway.

First up is Sylvie. That is now her name with due respect Bob's lovely baby Sylvie that lived for too short a time at FBA. 💔

Sylvie is my front runner in this competition. Her main attributes are that she has some places with beautiful, perfect little feathers. And some baby fluff. And some completely bald patches. It is her neck that lets her down.

I present you Miss Sylvie’s bad hair day.

Next up is Piglet who is in better shape than Sylvie but whose feathers seem to go in random directions, and as a chick who enjoys flying she is often exposing her completely naked pits!

Tassels is not really a contender but does generally prefer the rumpled look.

Calypso refused to participate and is looking rather splendid with a complete tail in place.

And finally, Winnie doesn’t understand all the fuss. She is almost completely feathered and even has the rose tinted chest she will have as an adult. She wanted everyone to understand that in this photo she had not yet had her bath and put everything in place. She likes to look ‘just so’.

Those are all great names and adorable little chickies. 🥰

They don't use cover, and frequently do a light mist - with the fan and mist, they induce the water to freeze. As it goes to a 'lower state' it gives off energy. So, inducing 'frost' in abundance actually gives off enough heat to prevent the fruit from actually freezing. (though frost is actually settled frozen water. The fans also help to keep the frozen molecules from settling - but so would a sheet...but in a orchard, it is almost impossible to sheet the trees, so that doesn't work for them - they had to come up with something else. @BY Bob would be much better off covering the garden - it is only supposed to be a light frost here...not sure about there, though.

Oh I love that use of the box and lid! Yes that is what I need, sheesh 🙄 had a whole pile of banker boxes at work I was going to bring home but figured I wouldn’t need any.

Guess a trip to Staples or Walmart later on. I want to move the Tweens over to the Hen House, they are just having this huge growth spurt and one of those boxes would be perfect for them.

Gosh those babies are just growing - I am always amazed by that. Has she taken her babies out yet?

What is the breed of your white rock mama?

I do not have my real name on my Google Account. Or birthday. It probably thinks I'm twenty (I am not). I made the account some time ago.
Google has no need to have a video of my mug or a picture of my ID (I only have a expired passport and my Apple ID.) I feel like I am being treated like a criminal or something with those Google questions.
Should I send youtube headquarters a package with a big dislike symbol or a sad face made out of chicken poo?
Oh man, am I on a soapbox? Anyone remember Kris on a soapbox?
Tax for being on a soapbox.

Yes I hear ya, remember I was there for the birth of the internet 😊, and security, and all the other things that we see now.

Wee chickie says don’t sweat it

Been a while since I was active, gonna post and then catch up. My semester is over! I passed my classes!

Put wood chips down in the run since the chicks have managed to kill all the grass already.

It being poo and sand was grossing me out so bad.

Something about the wood chips makes this feel so official.

Electric netting went up.

So now there's more room to explore, although I'd like to get some more shade going and some more interesting things in the area.

And the water tank got an autofiller and updated cups. The cups don't drip!

I originally had some knockoff rac cups, which is the bottom one in that pic. They dripped like crazy!

The integration of the hen and rooster into the chick flock is as good as it's going to get, I think, until the chicks begin laying. They avoid her and stay out of her way, but she doesn't chase them and peck at them.

It's also crazy to see them side by side, since most of the barred rocks are practically the same size as her.

My rooster, who is still skittish of me, is no longer panicked at the very sight of a human shadow. And his comb and wattle, which were scabbed and pecked at when I first got him, are showing vast improvements.

They look beautiful. 😍 Nice to have you back.

Yes! I'm trying to time it so I graduate first, haha. I don't mind hiding a big belly under a robe. So, maybe in 3-6 months?
Exciting! Babies babies babies ❤️❤️💕

Ok well make sure to let us all know - and don’t get overly tired out - school, chickens, babies - a lot to handle ❤️

Long, rough day today. 15 hours at the rig, another 2 hours doing my report and seeking knowledge. I am wiped out but have enjoyed the few pages I read today. Be wary of snakes. Lety killed a cottonmouth by our kitchen door yesterday.
Be safe working, hope you have a decent flight home. Can’t wait to see what Lety has when you get home 😊
