@BY Bob I thought you would like to see this:
This is Empress Josephine. Today, I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. I walked into my area, carrying the sandwich, which had not been folded. I was sitting, about to eat it, and she jumped up and hit the plate, causing the sandwich to fall. Josey also fell with it. The sandwich gave her a nice smack and got on her feathers. I ended up eating it but was mobbed by ravenous chickens. They wanted that sandwich. I gave them the scraps on my plate.
The bottom photo is her trying to get the jelly off of her feathers.

Darker stripes are girls, males also have a spot on their head😁

Now hurry and go back and get them!
Oh thank goodness I did not come home with them. See how the universe likes to mess with me, I was drawn to the lighter striped ones and would have chosen them. I do not know when, but one day when I do not have as many neighbors I will have a rooster refuge. No hens, all boys and as many boys as I want. I will not be going back anytime soon to either Rural King or Tractor Supply. Raven is due to hatch next Sunday. Now, thanks to another egg breaking she is down to 10 eggs. IF she has a poor hatch, or none hatch well, Raven deserves chicks is all I can say.

On the topic of ticks - I sprayed my shirt with the permethrin spray as per I think it was @GregnLety's suggestion. But I found a tick wandering happily on the arm of the shirt.
Isn't that spray supposed to kill them on contact?
I hung the shirt in the shower in the evening and sprayed it so it dried overnight.
So now I am back to being all paranoid about the ticks!
It is my understanding that it is a deterrent similar to OFF but I have found it works better then deet based products in my area.

I spray it on my clothes and exposed skin right before I go out, the effect only lasts for like 4 hrs or so since it is a sent based deterrent, as far as I know that is.

I don’t think it kills them :( I wish it did. Not much kills ticks. Fun fact: ticks can live for a year or more with no food source at all. I mean thats weird right?

She is very pretty - even with the jelly.
