As long as you can keep the protein high (18% or higher) they should be fine pellet or crumble. After that pic of them climbing around Eli, you can relax on the worry front. They'll roost with the bigs on their own timetable, but are fully integrated. There is a whole thing going on with Eli and the Pentagonists.
I will post about it later when I have had more time to observe, but I think she has sort of adopted them. Or maybe they have adopted her.
But yes, I do think integration is essentially complete apart from where they sleep at night.
And I am still not 100% sure whether they are big enough to eat the pellet food.
They are 6 weeks old tomorrow.
Tax: pretty Sylvie.

I cover it with a towel nowHa, what do you mean YOUR lawn chair???? Isn't possession 9/10ths of the law??? tee, hee, hee
They go after the pellets but I am not sure that they don’t just toss them around.Love her feathers very pretty!
My Tweens eat everything now, how big are the pellets? Try them and see, it was no use for me to try to separate the feed so now I mix chick and layer half and half for everyone. I have so much chick feed to go through it’s ridiculous! And the teach sent her 10 chicks with another bad of chick feed
At this rate I won’t need to buy any fees for a while! I will make sure my hens have to crushed oyster shell for them.
Good BrownieThis bunch don't get into much mischief nor do they flit around everywhere like maniacs. They are more sensible and more aware of dangers. Mama is having none of that. I have noticed that if they start messing around she will lightly peck em to get back to work looking for food. Its fascinating to watch and to see the difference in human raised vs broody raised.
The biggest down side for me so far is I can’t really handle them Brownie is fine with me being nearby but if I pick em up and then they cheep even moderately loud she is on me to put them down immediately!
My vote is for:This bunch has one non-silkie (Mr P x Penelope), the other 3 are pure silkies from my friends silkie hens. I will check to see which one is a Roo and possible keep it for my own. Unless I decide to keep Rico... tough decision.
Everyone gets 18% protein - it is just the format (pellets or crumble). As long as you can keep the protein high (18% or higher) they should be fine pellet or crumble. After that pic of them climbing around Eli, you can relax on the worry front. They'll roost with the bigs on their own timetable, but are fully integrated.
She seems to be doing a bit better. Her left leg seems to bother her and she gets around, but it's awkward, like she is walking on stilts or something.YAY! I was bursting here with eggcitement for you
