I suspect they want to be as close as possible to the 'bigs' - without getting too close to get pecked/thrown off. That is kind of sweet. If they had an actual momma hen, they probably wouldn't have ventured up at night so quickly because they would have tucked under her...and she would have been calling them to bed with her if the didn't come on their own. My chicks ( 3 weeks - so a week older than yours) will perch on the roosts at times during the day, but all hop into the nest box with mom at night.
They stayed up there last night. I went back out at almost full dark and moved them down. Last year, Jessica was up roosting with Lark and Indigo tucked under her pretty early. Went back through my photos. Took this may 15, 2022. Hatching was may 2-5 ish.

Approximately 10-12 days old. Wow, I hadn't realized how close this lot is to that timeline.

Have you thought about Featherfoot as the name for that little one? Every time you write it I hear it as it’s name!
Oh I thought that was it’s name ! Great name. Been calling the one school chick seagull so that’s it’s name, he looks like a Gull.

They are just inspecting the property - wouldn't you inspect an apartment before deciding to 'rent' it?? :D

🥰🥰
Maybe they are squatters! 🤔 They don’t have permission to perch on those platforms! Time will tell!

Those aren’t the chicks are they? Those are adults…?

What are they doing at your place? Well any nice hens keep I say.
Those ARE the littles. Getting bigger each day. (Eating more of my food each day)

I am sure when I post it will be very emotional and you will all accuse me of both anthropomorphizing and sentimentality.
Aww, I’m so sorry RC. :hit :hugs And no, I don’t think anyone here is remotely going to think that of you. :hugs:hugs:hugs
