What is the undisputed queen of her flock to do once she has laid, and given up her fluffy butt picture?

What ever she wants that is what. Today it is relaxing in the shade posing for the camera and taking well earned naps. Do not let that relaxed look fool you though. A glimpse of the raisin box and she will spring into action and throw her weight around to get her share.....and the other's share. Butter does not mess around when Raisins are on the menu.

I finally got some pictures of the great "Iron Beak's" namesake Lilly. She is 14 months old now and is looking lovely. She is also about to be on my hit list. For over a week now I have not gotten a single egg from her, but she is laying. Somewhere, under the house I think. I have caught her coming out from under it singing the egg song. Scoured as far as I can see with the flashlight. I fear I will have to brave the spiders and snakes before she goes full on broody, the brat.

She is stunning. And you are doing a wonderful job with the camera today. Some really great photos!

Next up is some Bubba love.

I am sad to say there was a casualty while I was petting him.

His longest tail feather and a blood feather as well darn it. It will be a bit before that one grows back. He should not have lost it, I was just stroking his back and tail and it pulled off in my hand.

He and Branch turned 2 a month ago and all I can say about him is WOW! He is big and he is gentle. Looking at him I can only imagine how good Drummie would look if he were still alive.

That look, makes me want to go buy some raisins and give them to her!

That neighbor came back out, and saw me in the yard with the chooks. Saying how sorry he was for offending anyone with his drinking. We had a conversation about the possibility that he might need help with sobriety (I cautiously dropped a few names of places he could go)
Ok I did my part, now on to the chooks! IMG_3164.jpeg IMG_3128.jpeg
