How regal. She has the true carriage of a queen. What is the undisputed queen of her flock to do once she has laid, and given up her fluffy butt picture?

What ever she wants that is what. Today it is relaxing in the shade posing for the camera and taking well earned naps. Do not let that relaxed look fool you though. A glimpse of the raisin box and she will spring into action and throw her weight around to get her share.....and the other's share. Butter does not mess around when Raisins are on the menu.

They are Jubilee Orpingtons, right? If so, they are known to be laid back and will sit and watch a lot. Lady Featherington doesn't get to sit around a lot because Glynda is her best friend and she never stops moving. They are actually 6 weeks old today. They have been extremely slow to feather out but they are also quite large and round. I am very glad I have them on 20% all flock, I think they really need the extra protein.
They are just very different birds altogether tbh. They are active eat a ton, drink plenty of water, and seem completely healthy but by in large they do not dart around like maniacs on caffeine like my first bunch.
They are content to lay down in the run together and observe the world. Laid back would be the best way I could describe them which is not what one would expect from 6 week old chicks.
I am looking forward to seeing how they mature and feather out. I am also intrigued as to how the Roos will act given their general mellow personalities. Lore is already showing some beetle black iridescent hackle and tail feathers.
Adorable.
Wow! Such a likeness to her namesake. She was also an egg hider!I finally got some pictures of the great "Iron Beak's" namesake Lilly. She is 14 months old now and is looking lovely. She is also about to be on my hit list. For over a week now I have not gotten a single egg from her, but she is laying. Somewhere, under the house I think. I have caught her coming out from under it singing the egg song. Scoured as far as I can see with the flashlight. I fear I will have to brave the spiders and snakes before she goes full on broody, the brat.

It looks like she is going to peck anyone who dares to bother her.
To me he is the quintessential rooster. He is large and gorgeous and looks like he is very much in control of his world.Next up is some Bubba love.
I am sad to say there was a casualty while I was petting him.

His longest tail feather and a blood feather as well darn it. It will be a bit before that one grows back. He should not have lost it, I was just stroking his back and tail and it pulled off in my hand.

He and Branch turned 2 a month ago and all I can say about him is WOW! He is big and he is gentle. Looking at him I can only imagine how good Drummie would look if he were still alive.
Informative, butIt is a great food source for my hens. They love when I empty it.
@RebeccaBoyd looks like a possible home for 1 of Bubba's sons when you do that hatch next year (@RoyalChick key word NEXT year, so you have time to think about it and let the girls finish growing up)To me he is the quintessential rooster. Well, sounds like I need a fall hatch then and have 2 boys. They would have the winter and some of the spring to grow up under the watchful eye and guidance of Bubba and Branch.@RebeccaBoyd looks like a possible home for 1 of Bubba's sons when you do that hatch next year (@RoyalChick key word NEXT year, so you have time to think about it and let the girls finish growing up)
