I don't like to go outside at darkbecause of predators, plus it creeps me out...
Not to be rude, or to have a come back at what you say...
Ditto here, too much of a chance at stepping on a venomous snake. When I lived in south Georgia we had huge rattlers. I hated leaving for work before daylight because I didn't have good outside lighting.

Ok, coffee is brewed and I have my first cup of bliss. While brewing I went ahead and moved Raven and the chicks. They are spending the morning in the coop thanks to heavy rains. Everyone is a week old now and thankfully it has been over 24 hours since I lost a chick. As I gave a preview of last time yesterday I tried to get comb shots of the marshmallows to use for Mugs Monday. I thought getting good in-focus of black chickens was hard. Hah, I will photograph a black chicken any day and not have as much trouble as I did with white chickens in the sun.
Happy mugs from the Marshmallows.

Now the Marshmallows were uncooperative, digging was much more important then holding still and lifting their head up for just 2 seconds. I resorted to making noises and acting like a idiot to get their attention.
Chiquita clearly thought I had lost my mind....and she was right, I looked like a fool.

Butter came around and showed them how it is done, of course they did not pay attention.

Beautiful photos! 😍

Happy Caturday
Please refrain from criticizing that I have a cat on the kitchen table (I know, I know, but they do rule my life), and that I am advertising a brand of running shoe (as recommended by my foot doctor).

How long could they live in the tote though, until she and her chicks, if she is able to hatch some, grow out of the tote.
With the brooder type thing I planned out, they could probably live there for a few weeks, and they and peck each other through the wire, but not make much physical contact.
(I'm NOT trying to have a comeback for everything, I'm just trying to figure out what works best)
Animals are gonna fight, there’s not much we can do about it, except separate the bullies. IMG_3020.gif

If you already have something in mind that works and is weather and predator proof that's great! By the time they are a few weeks old they will be out and about running around everywhere.

Rebecca and I and the others let our chick and mamas run with the flock, if you let Willow out with the flock with her babies and you think they are all getting along you can let them be during the day. At night I put my chicks and mamas in a secured location where the others couldn't get to them. I think the others also do this.

When I got the school chicks home, they were 2 weeks old and I had this grand plan to slowly introduce them to the flock. That lasted about an hour - they were flying everywhere, the others were ignoring them and everyone was happy. So during the day they stayed with the flock; at night though I put them back in their crate for warmth and safety.

This past week I ended that - they now roost in the Hen House with everyone. They are 5 weeks old.
