Willow smashed an egg 😵 I think that it was a fertile one too. I stole ALL of her eggs, and candled them. Out of the 13, 1 broken, so 12, we have 6 fertile eggs. How many are alive? I have no idea.
Also, I have her brooding house all planned out.
I told my dad about it and he just grabbed a really big wooden box, and took the door off -because it was once our old cabinet- and shoved it in the coop on some cinder blocks. We are gonna make a hoop around it with chicken wire so that she has a little run, and we are all good.
It's so annoying but it may work. Except my dad wont freaking do anything now. I'm going to laugh in his face if Willow doesn't like it. I'll get some pictures of it later.
But, he helped you - maybe not the way you wanted - but repurposing AND getting you what you needed was really nice - especially since he really didn't want Willow to hatch eggs in the first place. While you may not think it is perfect - at least TRY to be thankful he is helping - even if it isn't really what you wanted. Next time, instead of helping, he may shut down or just say .no' because you are 'ungrateful'. I know it is hard sometimes, but try to see it from his point of view - and accept that he isn't really into your chickens, nor wanting more. YET - he is making sure Willow has what she needs to hatch chicks.

For good or bad - the world runs on compromise.....he made a big step towards your wishes - can you make a little step towards him and say 'thank you'?

A pretty young pullet that has grown into a beautiful lady under someone else's wonderful care!

It's been hard to catch up with traveling. I want to share some update on my flock.

Tina has been sick. She laid a lashed egg about 2 weeks ago. She just finished a course of 10 day antibiotics. She is not better. ☹️☹️

She perked up a bit today but before that she was not moving much at all. My husband has been thinking where to dig her grave. He said he has come to terms with it. He spends a lot of time with her. I'm really sad that I won't be there when it comes the time.

Due to Tina's weakness, she has started to be bothered by other chickens.

Meimei was chasing poor Tina in the yard.
Shortly after, Wendy, the alpha, was fighting Meimei.
Meimei, being the junior, did not submit. So the two had a serious fight.
Light wanted to help Wendy, but Wendy did not want it.
Foxy, meimeis only ally, helped meimei.

In the end Wendy won.

Poopy has been super nice to Tina. She would sit by her during the day.

I'm just annoyed, because he always makes a big deal out of everything.
Plus he and my mother have been talking about splitting up and all of that....
But on the other hand, I am grateful, and I showed him that by talking everyone's head off about Willow, her (soon to be) chicks, and the other birds.
