Our only neighbor who lives about 2 lives away has a rooster, and sometimes you can hear his whisper carried by the wind if you stand by the pond closest to their property.
And my darn roo is still crowing...

Not a surprise.

Haha the only way I can get him to shut his mouth is if I grab him for cuddles.
So that's what I did, and then he jumped out of my hands and made me chase him for a few moments before he let me catch him. Little brat
Gaby will run from me when I try to catch her. As soon as she is on my lap she settles down and sometimes sleeps

Um..
BBQ kicked Willow off the nest and is sitting right now. Willow is still very broody, and BBQ is pecking my stick.
I think that she is laying, but is it normal for a hen to kick a broody hen off of the only nest?
Yes. Those higher in the pecking order will do so. If you can, leave a cluster of "eggs" (real or fake, golf balls work) in a different nest area to encouragethe layers to lay there rather than the broody nest.

What are you doing, no roos no. I already promised mom no more silkie roos. Pullets people, I need pullets. I am going to ask her advice. I have a empty incubator. I also have a very stubborn broody hen who is just waiting for me to give up trying to break her and let her have eggs. I could relent, give Perdita a store egg tonight and stop all attempts to break her and give her the eggs 24 or 48 hours after they arrive. Decisions, Decisions.
My vote is Perdita, but I want my birds raised by the tribe when possible (I still can't believe the tote in the coop worked as well as it has!)

Any other time it would be Perdita no hesitation. This time it is different. First time with shipped eggs and a unproven broody. The unproven part also would normally not bother me. What I am torn about is these are silkie eggs. The much desired and coveted black silkie eggs. If they all arrive unbroken I am only getting 6. I really do not know what to do here. I want them broody raised and I have a broody hen waiting on eggs. I also want a black silkie pullet and this is my one shot at it this year.
