It is that time of year again friends, the Mimosa's are busting out in bloom. The pictures were taken yesterday and the amount of blooms has doubled today.

I will not argue that those trees are beautiful when in bloom. They also provide shade and cover for the chickens. They hate me though, 2 days now fighting a sinus headache that is about to take me out. We have got to get the grass mowed this evening. It quit raining and the yard is dried out. We also have a 2 day horse show starting tomorrow evening so there is no hiding inside like I want to. If I am sporadic about visiting it is because I am having to lay down to get rid of the headaches. I could cut them down, but it would do no good. They are everywhere.
Hugs for you

Just take it easy, check on when you can - tell Rosie and your Dad good luck ❤️

She's a stupid chicken, that's for sure. She's managed to spill her food and water, so she's standing on soaked newspaper and shavings. I refilled the bowl, but she keeps crowding it, though there's plenty of room. I actually mixed her up oatmeal, peanut butter, sunflower seeds and craisins and she's doing her best to spill that too.View attachment 3560223
We went out and checked the others a bit ago. It was nearly 99 in the shed, but under 93 in the nest box. So Eenie's new ventilation (the grate over the egg door) seems to really work. Manny and Meanie are hot...but not HOT. Ran the hose over the building and that seemed to help too.
I don’t use bowls, I use a tray for feed, yep they will dig in it, tis they way of the chicken.

And I use a small waterer that I taped some twine onto and hang it from the top of the crate.

Like so - the larger waterer is not what I use, it’s that smaller jar size, I cut the twine off it last week but you can see that larger one still has twine - sure makes it easier to move them around and unscrew to bottoms.

Ignore the photo bobbing chick 😁 she is looking for attention.

Nope, didn't convince him. He started yelling at me because he hates chickens and never wanted any. He wanted me to turn the incubator off and let the chicks inside the eggs die. I didn't, but now if any hatch, I need to get rid of the chicks. Gosh, I'm so mad at him. He doesn't care that chickens are the only thing that i have to make me happy, since he made me stop riding.
Well I am going to give you some advice that my parents gave me, I pestered them all the time wanting riding lessons, a horse… but money was very tight for us growing up.

My parents told me that when I got a job and started earning my own money I could get my own horse, and any other things I wanted.

You’re very fortunate to have riding lessons, and all the pets you have. Being an adult is hard, and we are just human, we have bad days and yep we yell at our kids. Sometimes the kids yell back 😊

You have chickens and one on an egg and some in the incubator, that’s way more then I had as a child - count the blessings you have, and when you’re old enough to work and make your own money you can get all the animals you want ❤️❤️❤️

In the mean time cuddle all those ones you have and cut you dad some slack, you know when was the last time you just went up to your dad or mom and hugged them told them you loved them WITHOUT asking for anything ? 💕

Oh darn it! That sucks! Hopefully no chooks were under it!!!

Is there any way you can somehow hoist it up to let the grapes ripen them cut it back at the en of the season?
It’s very heavy. Like a huge grape monster I would be wrestling!
Oh, now I’m wining 🍷about it!
Maybe I should get a bunch 🍇 of friends to assist me with it. ? 🤔

I bought 2 of those Monday! Of course I have both over by Eenie, one with water and one with electrolytes. Guess I could put just one.

So...Sheba is more than content in her wet crate. She's dumped the food and water 3 times. I'm done. What do I expect with a brain the size of an acorn?
It's sooo hot. 103. But the other two seem better today.

I evicted Eenie. I'm not sure she drank, but she ate a bit, dusted herself, and pooped a giant poop. About 10 minutes later she went to the nest and settled back in.
