I will. I suspected the cancer the vet found, it wasn't a surprise, just a sad confirmation. At least there hopefully are some palliative tools available for her remaining life. But I won't drag out trying to keep her alive for it's own sake.

It hurts the most to those of us who care the most. I know it is hard - but I also know you will do right by Peanut. I am so sorry you and Peanut have to go through this.

Hey i do but it's called lemon meringue pie here. I've never had it made with lime

The key lime has a graham crumble crust, not a regular pie crust like lemon meringue.

Darn I am starving now hahaha!

I just had a shortbread cookie and the chickens were eyeing me up and down haha - I escaped with my cookie to the office

So, there are LOTS of chipmunk chicks as babies, but the coloring is identical to what my Welsummers looked like as babies, so maybe Viola is part Welsummer. Definitely only part, though, as the adult coloring is definitely NOT Welsummer like. He (Can Viola become Violos? Or Viorel? is quite handsome! I'm so glad you were successful with your nurturing - hopefully that will make him a little more calm as a roo - at least around people.

Thirsty Thursday

A hot sticky morning here, the chooks couldn’t wait for me to clean the waterers

The youngsters finally were able to get their drink.

It’s pelting down rain now, we are under a severe thunderstorm warning but I don’t think it will be that bad - I checked the radar and it looks like just wide spread rain.

The chickens all ran into the barn - chickens !

The horses are enjoying a nice cooldown

Lemon curd - which is truly from heaven and is the basis of most of the lemon tarts around the world is made from lemon juice, sugar and egg yolks. Of course you can also make it with limes. I have a killer recipe that uses 12 eggs in the filling for just one pie!
Key Lime Pie is lime juice with egg yolk and sweetened condensed milk. It is called Key Lime pie because it uses Key Limes - which are small limes naturalized in Florida that are smaller and more scented than the regular limes you buy in the store. The concept of Key Lime Pie came from a producer of condensed milk in the '30s (or maybe '40s).

I hope he turns out to be a good fellow! I am thankful that I have two coops and runs as I could separate him from the pullets if he starts harrassing them. Currently everything is open.
