Have done nothing much with the chickens today. The husband has gone to make sure the movers have a path to our shed. As that's an hour and 45 minutes each way, plus what yard work/tree trimming he has to do, I don't expect him back til dark.

So I decided to work on our chain link. Drove tent Stakes around the bottom where the dog could get under, at least until i ran out of stakes. I'm always worried when I let her out she'll spot a rabbit or a cat and will be off! Dumb pup. (Dumber owners who've managed to fail utterly in training.)View attachment 3571691

Well for the time being I am leaning towards pullet for Owly. I just witnessed her doing something that really I have not saw a chick this young regardless of gender do. Raven brought them to bed and once again everyone was squezing into the box with her. Owly must have gotten too cramped so she hopped into the empty box beside them and sat in the middle of it. She then started playing with the bits of hay. What started out as playing ended up with her tossing hay over both sides of her back like the hens do when they are nest building. That HAS to be pullet behavior.

Oh yes that sure is a pullet behaviour

Peanut passed very peacefully this afternoon. Late yesterday I became pretty sure the great time she had really was likely her last and best hurrah and I called and made the appointment for today. She had all of her mates with her. She ate a blueberry, a bit of scrambled eggs and some peanut bits. Then when it was time, Peanut fell gently asleep.

She had all of her mates with her. She ate a blueberry, a bit of scrambled eggs and some peanut bits. Then when it was time, Peanut fell gently asleep.

Yes me too, he was hopping up on my lap- I was almost crying, will see what the two mamas do at roost time. So far they don’t care.
