Twofer Tuesday
See that bowl back there, it has frozen cherries, blueberries, and strawberries in it with water. They are not eating it. Why, you might ask… the waters in the way, is why. When I finally gave up and poured it out onto the ground they demolished the berries. chickens!!

Two plus two is four maybe this counts??

There are two chickens in this photo I promise it’s just that Sugars fluffy butt is rather in the way is all.

Brownie is at it again. I let everyone out today to peck around and get some treats and I was doing some chicken watching while the kids played. Brownie was nowhere to be found. So, I checked the nest boxes, yep there she was broody tut tutting at me for coming and disturbing her.

I told her under no uncertain terms that there will be no more chicks this year! I don't think she took me seriously though, as even though I removed all the eggs from under her she stayed put for the whole hour and half I was out there.

Sighhh, I hope she stops fairly quickly this time as there are no fertile eggs in the mail this time round and wee Lore and Story aren't yet up to the job

NO NO NO NO NO.
I am already trying to break up Goose, Karen and Ducky with this broody nonsense. Guess who turned into a shrieking biting demon who wanted to sleep in the porch nest box tonight? Grackle that is who. That is now 4 girls who need to be broken up, 2 currently raising chicks and Perdita who is due to hatch this weekend. I am ready to raise the white flag. HELP. That is it, I am sick of spring and summer, I am ready for winter.......NOW.

I need to clean the coop out first thing anyway tomorrow. It is time to enact tough love. Karen and Goose especially are not taking the hint even as we remove hay bales to feed out to the horses. The are just scooting over to a different one. I am cleaning up the coop and locking 4 angry clucky hens in it during the day. I will have to open it back up in the evening so everyone can get in it to roost but they can be rounded back up off their nests for the next few days. I will win this battle with the girls.
