@RebeccaBoydWow is he ever handsome. Which silkie girl was his mother? He is definitely a polkie. That black skin and double toes tell of his silkie heritage.
edited to add.
You see that right there is what I would have thought a Marty and Mr. P son would look like.
And he can be all yoursHe is gorgeous
I’m okay. I have my emotional support rooster with meI laughedEDIT - at the joke I mean.
I feel bad that you feel bad, what a day for you, hot, your AC got shot up and needs repair…. That sucks.
But I am glad it wasn’t you or your chooks that would have made us all very upset.
They are adorableThe weeks on the nest has done wonders for Eenie. She has virtually all of her feathers back.
Once we have the new coop, we could, technically have two coops, not close to one another, one where we can put the roos. But I'm just praying for 3 pullets.
It raises a question though, when you quarantine a bird, new or sick, how far from the others should you keep them?
Really, I ran into a lady at a swap meet a couple weeks ago with Jubilee Orrington chicks. I love those speckled chickens. Maybe next spring, when we have a new coop with better brooder facilities.
Go for shade every time!Spent an hour with the hubby trying to figure out where the new coop/shed is going. It's arriving tomorrow.
Option 1, is back in these trees. I'm facing North...
View attachment 3578803 Coop will be on the left. Best part about this is shade pretty much all day, but we will have the limbs and leaves to contend with. Water hose will reach without too much trouble. Electric requires hooking together 150' of cord from the house. It's near the existing coop. It does have the bonus of screening off the neighbors junk. I can see this from my living room.
Option 2 is back by this fenceline. I'm facing west.View attachment 3578804
Not much shade, but we do plan to insulate and there's some in the afternoon that would hit the coop. Water is less convenient, but not impossible. We currently have 4 blackberry plants there which we'll dig up but they're doing very poorly there anyway. Electric is much more convenient as this is near our garage. I can see this from my back porch.

Always go with shade of a tree - never underestimate the value of the cooling power of a treeSpent an hour with the hubby trying to figure out where the new coop/shed is going. It's arriving tomorrow.
