Oh that is hilarious - but it really undermines the whole basis of Tuesdays. Need to think about that!

:gig :gig
Now I know exactly how incompetent you believe me to be. Yes I know that! The issue is that I am almost always one-handed because I have chicken food or a shovel or something in my other hand and it is impossible to turn the phone sideways, aim for a picture and click the shutter with one hand. Can do all that in portrait mode.

Oh thank you! I just tried it and it worked. That definitely makes it easier to take landscape pictures. What a nifty tip. Still hard to do one-handed but definitely going to try and do it more.

iPhone 13 Pro Max (or so it tells me).
I'm glad my tip works. I love the feel of pushing a physical button not the digital screen.

So you have a 12 megapixel camera. Let me crop one of my photos to see what resolution it will come out at. It may be acceptable due to the fact that paper is not the highest resolution anyways.

Chicken Palace drama
There is a massive - think maybe 6’ circumference - branch about to come down from the big tree that shades the Chicken Palace.
It is resting on some lower branches which are bent to breaking point.
If it comes down it will likely do a lot of damage.
I called the local tree guy and he will come first thing in the morning with someone who can climb up and deal with it. I can’t even imagine how!
I just have to hope that there are no strong winds between now and the morning when they get here.
Of course while I was out showing the tree guy the issue the skies opened so I am completely drenched.
Need to go in and dry off and then go back out to give the Princesses fresh water.

Lovely pictures as always. I love your flock and your setting.
I do worry though that you cannot count. Counting is a useful skill.
I count one-two-three (OK two cockerels). And in the next picture one-two-three-four (OK that is two 2-fers).
But that last picture. Is that also two 2-fers? Or do I count one-two-three-four-five?!
:love
Last pic is only half a one. So 2 2fers: 2 in open, 2 trying to hide. The half a one I can't even tell who it is, and I took the pic!

okay, @RebeccaBoyd & @rural mouse (and anyone else who wants to chime in) Who is who - pullet or roo?

New pictures of my 'BR' (ha), Marans, and buff orps. They are just under 3 weeks old. Not positive, but think they hatched on a Wed. based on when they showed up at the TSC store.

The one with the white fluff on the chin is DEFINITELY showing pink in the wattles! The clean legged one is starting to show a hint of wattles, but the area isn't pink - so they don't really show in the pictures (of course, so hard to keep them still and in proper position for that shot, too:rolleyes:

These two kept looking away at the last minute - so I have lots of chest and neck shots, with the heads twisted around and out of sight for these two. Again these are supposedly Marans, I'm thinking BCM - no waddle development at all with either. No copper color, either, but that is too early - they are only half feathered (or less). The second one is slightly more advanced in the feathering department - but only by a day or two.

#5 & 6: # 5 shows absolutely no pink. But 6 (couldn't get it in a photo) is showing tiny, tiny pinkish wattles.

#7 & 8 ( @Ponypoor look at those cute tiny but very pink wattles on #7 & #8- and not even quite 3 weeks old yet!!!)

# 9 & 10 : BO, supposedly pullets. Way too soon to tell for sure by looks, but demeanor says 'pullet' on both. Or, at the very least, low ranking roo.View attachment 3580873View attachment 3580874View attachment 3580875

EDIT to add: I'm thinking 3, 4 & 5 (plus the BO:fl) are pullets. But won't officially declare for the Marans for another 1-2 weeks. For the BOs, not until at least 8 weeks old.
I think you're right. 2 is a maybe, keep an eye on. 1, 6, 7, 8 definitely boys.

That’s scary! I have a worry about the Jack Pine in my Rooster Run, the last time a Jack Pine came down I saw it didn’t even have any roots left, I could have hauled the sucker over with my truck!

If it comes down in the run it will be ridiculous to deal with. But I know I will have to deal with it in the winter - if it doesn’t come down before then.

6 feet or 6 inches?

Just clarifying, both will kill ya! But one will likely flatten ya!

This a repost, but I thought it would make a nice twofer for @BY Bob.

And a few more photos of these freedom loving ladies..the trust building phase is taking time ! Alba's comb flops to the left and Nieva to the right.
They are still laying 5 to 6 times a week, but no more double yolk or soft shell. I think they are getting better health wise, they used to have very pale yolks compared to all my other hens, and now they have turned much more orange like the other layers.
