Oh yes, my chicks use their overpowered wings to deliver mightily slaps to the face!

Curly beat me with her wee silkie wings tonight - blooming murder on my wrist hand and fingers, my index finger is esp painful tonight like shards of glass in my joint and her wee wings gave it a good beating.

Well this afternoon I had a bit of a scare counting the older chicks - I was counting as usual, 4 white, 1 grey, 6 black - nope 4 black…

Looked high and low was just freaking out trying to get calm so o could figure out who was missing and those darn cockerels would not stop crowing…..



Oh, ya, right - those 2 little monsters, ok 6 black. Hahaha forgot I had locked them away.

As it stands right now, Mr Penne is heading to freezer camp, he once again attacked my ankle biting it, brat! At least Rico doesn’t attack me! Just the hens.

So Penne will join the freezer camp boys, that leaves Floyd/Martina, and Rico.

I wanted to see what Floyd would do today without his brothers around, he behaved so far.

Are you sure he is 'attacking' you, not just latching on to try to mate? If it is the latter, give him a hen 'beat down/correction" either push him off - like a human hen - or both push him off you and give him a 'peck' with your finger like a hen would - to his head.
no hitting/smacking, etc. just push with open hand and with curved forefinger of other hand, deliver a 'peck' to the back of the head. an angry hen sound, if you can manage it, would be good, too. A couple of times letting him know he can't mate you, and you should be good. Per Shad, it is pretty common for a young cockerel to try to mate with 'mum' first - so I am pretty confident that that is what he is doing, as he has always been pretty friendly/bonded with you. respond just like a momma hen would, as that will give him the message the loudest and clearest.
