He's quite the handsome lad! And looks so proud of himself! (Although, he's probably just looking at something?)
Yes, he still acts like a youngster aside from his one note "crows."

Even the pullets aren't that impressed with him yet, but they are friends. When the littles aren't running around cheeping, they are all piled together having a cuddle 🤗
I was amazed that they were relaxing so close to Rema in this photo as they are still wary of the adults. They must have been on their best behaviour!

“friskies” ? Don’t they have a cream for that?
No that’s shingles
No cream for shingles either ! Trust me I had them very painful - 6 weeks of misery. I had it in my tooth (started there believe it or not!!), gums, lip and running up my face to my eye - soooo painful. To this day my tooth feels numb like when you go to the dentist, and my lip and face itch and burn (called post hepatic neuralgia).

Painful tax
Let sleeping chickies sleep

They sure have grown 😊 they are all lovely 😊

I am not sure the Princesses are good for my blood pressure.

There was a fox around this morning (saw on camera) and I came to sit in my chair in the Chicken yard and was confronted with this.
Noooooo!!!! Not Piglet.

Of course as I rushed towards her lifeless body I spotted that she was sound asleep.

She was quite good natured about being woken up so abruptly and quickly settled back down.

And comforted herself with a snack.

Am I the only gullible chicken tender that keeps falling for this?
I need a drink to steady my nerves.
No, it happened to me when the Buckeyes were chicks, I thought one was stroking out., and later DH saw it and thought so too. But especially now I check on Butters a lot!

Fox are scary to see. Do you have confidence in your poultry netting? I think coyotes are scarier, because they are bolder and can jump and climb better. Raccoons are usually out at night, but I've seen both fox and coyotes hunting during the day. Have you seen anyone test the fence? Could they use a reminder, like maybe baiting it?

It has got cooler here now but I was thinking of semi-automating wetting the ground by drilling a small hole in a bucket and hanging it up to drip, drip. drip onto the ground.

ohhhhh, You have an automated treat dispenser when not used for moisture purposes!!! Put a small piece of meat or carrion in there, hang the bucket in the run, & let the flies do their thing, and in no time there will be larvae galore! As long as the holes are big enough for the larvae to wiggle through🪱, they will self-dispense to the chooks below!🐔

Edited to add: you still trap/catch mice in the old house or barn at times, yes? ready made 'bait' for the treat dispenser. If you are okay doing so, after the mouse is dispatched, tear open the thin stomach skin. Or, if any of your cats are hunters, the half eaten 'catch' they 'gift you' will be perfect!
