I would like to make this Tribute for Frost only. Eclipse will have her's made soon. Tonight, tomorrow, the next day, not quite sure. I will need to try not to repeat stuff. They have pretty much the same story though. I apologize in advance.

Frost, you were such a good guinea hen.❤ You were the second out of the egg, and the only white guinea in your clutch. I was so happy when I came home from school, to see you in the incubator. You were such a sweet, important guinea to me.

Here you were in the back with some of your siblings. Remember how before I knew that you were a girl, I would call you Jack Frost?

Look how tiny and cute you were! All eight of you ❤❤ there are still six living, don't worry Frost.
Knowing Eclipse, she was likely the one hiding under you and the brooder. She was so shy, remember, Frost? You two were inseparable.

Awe, you were getting your brooder cleaned out! You were still too tiny to fly out Frost, but once you got just a wee bit bigger, you were flying all over the place.

Here I was holding you Frost. This was when you were outside, but still tiny and young. Remember how much you loved biting my bracelets and rings? You would peck them and peck them for as long as you could! And hard! Ohh, it hurt whenever you pecked me!

Here you were just a few weeks ago pulling the strings of my pants. Your older brother from a different clutch was behind me, while I was holding your clutch mate Russell. He misses you. He has been calling for you and Eclipse a ton. Your other siblings who moved out don't know. I've not visited them since you died. I will tell them as soon as I see them.View attachment 3606654

You were closest to me. Your older brother Ditzy was up front with his head up. Eclipse was next to him, and next to you and Eclipse was Pie, both you and Eclipse's older half sister from Ditz's clutch. You guys were eating yummy food. Yes, I locked Russell up so that he didn't attack Ditzy.

Ok all have a great evening, I am going to do chores and hit the hay, my eye is giving me a headache (or maybe it’s the storm coming in for tomorrow).

She looks plenty feisty enough that she just needs to be able to escape and not get cornered.
Having something the chicks can escape underneath and she can run around will help a lot I think.
She is pretty impressive how she commands the chicks, so I think if you create enough obstacles she can run around and enough places for them to hide under they will all be just fine!
Same goes for the run.
My Chicken Palace is designed with this in mind with little doors between different sections and lots of tree stumps in any big open area. The littles often escape Bernie by going around and around.
And I get to enjoy Bennie Hill style chases!

It's gone fine as best I can tell. I haven't been out there but a few minutes evert couple hours because of work and such, but last two trips everyone was in the coop! Second time they were all inside and Eenie and one of the kids were apparently out with the flock. I took them some fried fish my husband brought home and when I tossed it to the 3 outside, Eenie came out looking for her share! She came back to her kids when I went in the coop of course. But she promptly took the little pieces I had for them and made sure they got theirs. Such a good mama.

Were still going to make better obstacles tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure all is well as-is.

My new concern is food. If I put the chick starter out in the open, will the big chickens eat it up? Should I leave the crate area up a while longer, so they can go in there and eat?

Glad it is going well.
I can answer one thing - yes, everyone will eat the Chick Starter. Apparently it is the most delicious thing on earth! It is perfectly fine for everyone to eat but you will go through it at an alarming rate! One solve is to use Flock Raiser for everyone and make it into a mash if it is too big for the babies to eat.
Mine tricked me into getting another bag of crumbles and then proceeded to chow down on pellets anyway!
