I made a big spaghetti dinner, with sauce from scratch. Spaghetti boiled to perfection and garlic bread made from fresh garlic and onion and butter and seasoning salts.
Beings that I’m the only person here having dinner, ( my friend had to cancel) I made enough for all the pets (even the stray cats) my spaghetti was delicious and a big hit with the chooks as well.
It’s possible that the future eggs are going to taste like “Now That’s Italian!” :D:confused:

Sounds great! I had toast and yogurt for supper 🤨 too lazy to cook anything.

It's gone fine as best I can tell. I haven't been out there but a few minutes evert couple hours because of work and such, but last two trips everyone was in the coop! Second time they were all inside and Eenie and one of the kids were apparently out with the flock. I took them some fried fish my husband brought home and when I tossed it to the 3 outside, Eenie came out looking for her share! She came back to her kids when I went in the coop of course. But she promptly took the little pieces I had for them and made sure they got theirs. Such a good mama.

Were still going to make better obstacles tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure all is well as-is.

My new concern is food. If I put the chick starter out in the open, will the big chickens eat it up? Should I leave the crate area up a while longer, so they can go in there and eat?

Here's one big and three little fluffy butts.View attachment 3606705
That’s really great to hear! I knew they would work it out ok.

As for food, I mixed the chick feed with the layer ration 50/50 and just fed that, I am now moving to a grower ration as I can’t get an ‘All Flock’ feed here at all. But with my roosters and chicks of all ages I figured to get a feed with less risk of calcium I would just feed the grower crumbles. I put out oyster shell for them and grit already.

I tried to just keep the chicks eating the chicks feed but they would go and eat with the big ladies so then I started mixing the two feeds together,

I think you can use grower for everyone all the time. I found a flock raiser that was 20% protein so everyone gets that. It smells delicious!

My grower doesn’t have high protein so that’s a disappointment, I would feed the chicks starter/grower from Purina but it was pure dust that I bought! So wasteful- I used it for mash twice a day.

I do have a high protein supplement but it also has high calcium 🤨 can’t win….

Very hard to get a variety of stuff here.

:hugs:hit Beautiful tribute, made me sad too.
Thank you ❤❤ I feel as the years pass by, I start to understand life better. I hate that death is a thing, but it is. It brings a lot of heartache, but it ends suffering.
If I were an animal, I could only hope to be loved and cared for that much. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
Thank you. That's why I care about my animals so much. I put myself in their places. ❤❤
Awwww that was lovely and the pictures were wonderful. 💕💕💕

Thanks for sharing ❤️
Thank you. My birthday might be a bittersweet day. I'll certainly make sure to think about Frost and Eclipse. I'll also give their only sibling that I own extra treats.
It was a lovely tribute. :hugs
Thank you ❤❤ Tell your chicks and Manny and the girls that I say hi!

I want it to be known. If two little rocks who pretend to be angels do not stop being so pecky at night on the roost they will have a name change. Trudy and Judy are about to be called Heckle and Jekyll. Such sweet little chicks until it is time to roost. Then they peck anybody and everybody. I threatened tonight to put them on each side of Holly to see how they liked it. Judy reached out and tried to eat my freckle on my cheek. Sigh, you know if Queen Raven does not rear another brood it might actually be a good thing.

I really am having a great birthday today. Usually I like to be alone, by myself and not be bothered, but today seems different than previous birthdays. Lots of kind greetings from friends and family. And the chooks are behaving themselves today. (I wonder what could be wrong, that I haven’t noticed yet?) :old :frow:clap
Happy Birthday Alex 😊

A few pics of our young naked necks.
