Yesterday was a long day but extremely enjoyable. We went to Austin after doing our afternoon watering. Dinner with my daughters and granddaughter. Anna was on a role and had us cracking up the entire evening. Here we are in the ice cream shop.

Everyone is alive and well today and becoming more adventurous.

Very glad my husband will be home to help with chicken relocation tonight. I don't do the dark, you see. It's approaching, if not quite, a phobia. Silly at my age, but I generally need a very bright flashlight.

I have a question for Ruth the little Pecker.
Q: I really love my hen Coco, she’s such a nut, but lately, she’s been acting distant from me. Did I do anything wrong with her or is she just going through something?

I am NOT calling her Dr Ruth

They are Barn Swallows - I used to be annoyed with the mess they made on my barn alleyway, but now I have chickens who make way more mess!

The loft is the least of your worries. They will make you appreciate your cannot fly for crap silkies all the more. The loft, trees, the roof. If it is high once they are settled in they will explore. It will be all fun and games to them, you will be on the ground glaring or shooing them off of places they do not belong. You can join me in muttering about @BY Bob and his joy for leghorns when they drive you crazy. They will do that, but in the end it will be worth it. I think it is only a fair trade off for what humans have done to the breed. We turned them into egg producing machines. They repay us back by if given the chance living their lives to the fullest each day and looking for trouble.

I just hope - as RM suggested - that they do learn to do all those things. It bothers me that the poor wee things first had their beaks chopped, and also don’t know what playing and flying is all about.

Today I noticed them fluffing around in the shavings - I can’t wait till they get outside and fluff about in the dirt - I am so eggcited for them to learn about dust bathing

I just really hope that once they get out and about they do come back in! Also hope they don’t lay too many eggs…

Fluffy again in the pen with the Azurs, I left her there she wouldn’t come out of there so I told her fine stay there!
