Wow. That’s your SkyHawk? She’s pretty. My dad used to own one. I asked him what a SkyHawk looks like after you mentioned yours a few weeks ago, and he told me that he used to fly/own one. That’s a pretty plane. Marie, right? The one who wishes to be a fighter jet?

Cancer update: Margins are clean and no sign of melanoma in either of the lymph nodes they biopsied!

No further surgery should be necessary. I have an appointment on the 12th to go over the next steps with my doctor. I suspect they will do a brain and full body MRI to ensure it’s nowhere else and then I will have to go get skin checks every three months.

I am so glad that you are okay. My moms best friend has a super rare and aggressive cancer. She’s not so lucky. She’s hanging in there, but it’s sad because her daughters are very young. 15 and 10 I think. I really hope that she can pull through. And I’m super glad that you are okay. I’ve been worried.

sorry it's been some weeks since I posted a pic here!
I'm new to FBA just wanted to share a few pics of my hens Fluffy Butts!

Wow, it sounds like the idiot hormonal stage lasts a long time! Good to know.

starts 6 months, can last to 18 months. Each one is unique. Cheetah didn't have much of one....2 hens, 7.5 pullets (Storm being 9 weeks younger meant she stayed under his radar). He became top roo at 12 weeks, didn't crow until 13 weeks.

Hector, Whiskey, Horus, and Kren had each other to spat with (Hector being 8 weeks older got started before the other 3 and roundly thumped). The trio....Horus and Kren worked together. Whiskey hung out with Cheetah as his back up.

I'm worried about it being a possible reason for other birds to bully him or him trying to jump somewhere and it getting caught on it like a feathery hook.

Has it gotten him caught on something already? Or is it just a 'hmmm, this might happen?

We have nine hens and five pullets right now, plus one cockerel.

The flock has two large secure runs, a large and a small coop (that can be separated with their own run) and supervised free range time when we don't have snow. I think that this set-up made the integration process go smoothly this summer.

Thanks for your reply regarding my question. Like all things chicken, it sounds like "it depends!"

It sounds like you have both the set-up and enough hens for it to work with 2 roosters...but the wild card is the personality of both your roosters/cockerels. Sounds like atm you only have the one cockerel - so all should be good! What might be good, if you continue with this general set up - is for a hen to hatch chicks next year (yes, I know - me advocating for yet another broody!) And keep 1 cockerel from that batch. Then this year's cockerel will be a full on Roo, and can guide the youngster - and he will be (the newbie) 2nd in command. It sounds very doable
