IF you are actually able to get her to dose her, that is! She's a wiley one, that Hattie!

I think she does that because she likes to taste her food. It winds up with her taking lady sized bites and not gulping things whole. Ever the lady my Hattie.

Been there with that transport issue - getting into the car, getting out, across the way, up stairs and into the home and finally into bed. The situation is pretty bad the way it's arranged now, no help for families, having to figure it out ourselves. So sorry!

Okay, I'm the only one who 'hearted' this post. for all you out there - I sometimes heart a sad post because the sentiment shared is thoughtful and kind - I love the sentiment behind the post, not necessarily the situation that prompted it. Just an FYI/clarification. I'm not sadistic or what not - I just appreciate the kindness and thoughtfulness of you all on this thread.

Special gutter screws? I was going to use screws, but nobody at Home Depot mentioned gutter screws! I'll have to research....

The screw goes all the way through the gutter. They include a spacer so they don't squeeze the gutter shut when you screw them in. The gutter will bend under load if you don't scrip m screw the outside to the structure. Here are the screws you need.

Similar temps here this morning. Sherlock "helped" me coil up and put away most of the hoses. Still have 2 to do and 1 to dispose of, but good progress. Then we let the chickens out. He did pretty well leaving the birds alone down below. Coming back up to the deck...... he wanted to chase.

Need to get some new picks. Thing's back is a naked mass of pins at the moment. They haven't started spreading yet. Nellie is looking as rumpled as last year (tailless, space feathers covering masses of pins). Nox has a whole mass of fresh white speckles (looking stunning). Mera is looking mostly brown at the moment. Pear has tail feathers coming in, but still has down poking out all over. Poor Belladonna has dropped even more feathers around her tail and down her sides. She's got the fluff part on her bum, wing feathers, neck and breast feathers, and almost nothing else. I'm glad she's doing this now so she has all the fresh new ones for winter. Whiskey and Hector are both tailless. Meanwhile Cheetah is working on his "mane". And Storm, in the midst of raising babies is sprouting some pretty blue feathers. The old she still has are looking very brown in comparison.

I've been hearing a 2 tone low-high crow which has to be either Tuff or Zulu. Need to figure out which. It's a very unique crow.

Somehow I think photos would have easier than writing all of that.

Ah but I am using vinyl gutter with the clips and whatnot. It's a blinding white too, I wanted brown. The run is not a thing of beauty to begin with! The Rainsaver system https://hallsrainsaver.com/ looked great and totally my speed and I think I could clamp it on something. But the whole system is only available in the U.K. The brackets are available here, but it's made for 3" half-round pipe and I couldn't find that and didn't want to make it, and 3" might not be adequate for the torrential rains we get here...and could it handle piles of snow and ice and stay clamped on? I basically loved that it requires no tools essentially. I do appreciate tools, but I just love putting things together without them. Anything snap-together. Legos, Lincoln Logs, etc. The chicken's run is that way actually and the coop only required a screwdriver.

I must be tool-phobic.

My cuties! Kasumi is looking so regal and speckly.
They were watching the dog after I chased him away from the coop. Liara is always flaring hackles at everything, it's so funny.

Also the marinara is done. The dark bits are purple basil.
