So each 'potential' can be with the main flock for a few hours, and observe their general behavior. They will self-select for you.

That said, feel free to give yourself a couple of days before starting this - just observe the cockerels for now in their summer house and think about the 1 or 2 potential keepers. When you have had a chance to regroup personally, then one day, let one option roam with the main flock. If there is an option B/2, on another day, them him roam with the main flock while option #1 is back in the summer house. Observe overall demeanor and interactions with the main flock, and make a decision. Not all of your cockerels will be like Rico. Matter of fact, seems none really had been slightly aggressive before except him.....to the general world. (they will all bump chests some - even the girls do growing up as chicks to figure out their place in the pecking order!)

:goodpost: @Ponypoor, yes, this. Kren and Horus got along great together (until they didn't). They did NOT get along with the ladies so well, and with Cheetah, Whiskey, and Hector, not much. Whiskey followed Cheetah around and just hung out with him and the ladies. Hector hung out with the ladies he grew up with. Out of the current 11 babies, Tuff has followed both Hector and Whiskey around watching and staying near. Zulu would go off, ranging around a lot more. Granite is still staying near mama, so can't really evaluate until Storm cuts the babies loose. Watching the girls with Tuff and Zulu, they're more willing to chill with Tuff and more alert around Zulu. Makes me suspect Zulu will need a new home or the freezer eventually which saddens me as he's such a charmer. He may surprise me yet, though.

These are the sorts of things to observe. Key word: OBSERVE. DON'T interfere. Part of the observation is seeing how the adults react to the iffy behavior from the cockerel. Expect some iffy behavior. He's a teenager. Like human teens, there are moments of "you're a treasure and credit to your parents" and other times of "I don't think you'll survive to adulthood". keep the one most tolerated in the larger group, running along side Mr. P. He might stand back and watch. In doing so, he WON'T be persistently trying to sneak a grab with a lady.

Just like my two boys, those years ago. One, I put through college and the other I put through a wall !
