I am trying to find a new brand of feed, the one I currently have is not to my liking, very dusty for crumbles, and seems to have grit as part of the ingredients. It’s like sand when I make their porridge.

I might try Purina Layena, the Purina Grower I tried a while back was just like dust. I wanted to try an All Flock, and some of you suggested a game bird feed. I know that one brand here has a game bird feed I might try.

Also found this one Purina Golden Harvest Crumble, any thoughts anyone?

Nothing about methionine or lysine in there, isn’t that important? Seems not a very complete analysis. Also no ingredients list, maybe in Canada these aren’t required? Maybe the Purina web site has better info.

Fluffy Butt Family myself and my family could really use your prayers right now. Grandma has been in a steady decline the last 2 days. Me and mom were changing her bed linen a hour ago and she had a spell and stopped breathing. She came back around but from her waist down what little control she had with movement is gone. Me and mom asked her if she wanted us to call 911 and take her to the hospital. She wants to stay home and begged not to go back. I cannot see into the future, but immediate family has been notified. I am not ready for this but I am holding it together in front of her.
:hugs :hugs :hugs and strength for your vigil. She may like soft music, the kind she likes.

@Ponypoor maybe you can get Purina Flock Raiser there. It’s 20% protein and low calcium, made for different types of farm birds including chickens.
Why don’t you try a pelleted form too? All your birds are old enough now.

Yes it annoys me that Purina doesn’t put the ingredients on their website and on the feed bag tags.

The other suppliers put the ingredient on their feed bag tags and usually somewhere on the website.

Except this new feed my feedmill babies have been using now supplies, I couldn’t find an ingredient list anywhere for the Jones Layer or Grower the feed bag tag didn’t have that info.

I can call them up and ask for the ingredient and full feed list.

Not available here anywhere at all. Very annoying.

Here in Ontario it’s all about the big factory layers and broilers. There is nothing specialized for the backyard chicken keeper that has mixed flocks - so annoying!

My chickens didn’t like the pellets I bought once before, I used it for their morning hot porridge, there is a short cut pellets feed o was wondering about, might try that.

Right now I am feeding half and half Jones 18% Layer and Jones 17.5% Grower to lower the calcium amt for Mr P.

Chewy says they will deliver to Toronto, is that where you’re near? Maybe you can find out by chat or a call what they will ship (probably expensive though). When I tried to browse the Chewy.ca site it wasn’t coming up with much in the way of chicken feed and I couldn’t tell if it was working.
