She’s doing much better, she is still recovering from whatever it is, and I think the antibiotic is doing some good. She can see to eat and navigate around. I think her upper beak is getting a little too long, and hoping being outside she’ll be wiping it and filing it down. She is still gaining strength, she is not at full speed yet, and even cheeps a baby cheep still, she needs taking care of, she feels vulnerable it seems and with good reason. But she has been flying places for the last three days, faster than walking, when she gets left behind by the others.

I’m taking all the Spuds up to the vets tomorrow afternoon for a check up, & maybe a scolding by the vet! I don’t know which vet we’ll see. But hopefully we’ll get on the same page again. Ida has a respiratory infection going on and I am not treating her yet. She was panting briefly while perched today, I offered water in case she was hot and she didn’t want it, and I’m suspecting it’s the infection. Whatever she has Tedi might be getting it too, she sneezed and her voice sounds a bit hoarse. Ida sounds the worst though. I am thinking it might be a good idea to treat them both too, but want / am willing to confer with the vet first.
Perhaps the vet could supply the antibiotics and you could then save yours for a crisis. I might not tell the vet I'm treating with Baytril. I did not tell mine when I did.

You do realize the risk that the vet may discover bird flu and the consequences of that.

My lovely friend Flash:
She stayed in the house with me all night. This morning she’s purring away wanting to snuggle up close to me here in the chickens room bed. She even stretched her wing out and covered me with it.
That’s what Rocks-Anne used to do with me. :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love image.jpg

By eating grass which is high in calcium.
That would explain why milk has so much calcium in it. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to regulate the fat content in milk through the cows' diet. Probably not as different breeds of cows produce different qualities and quantities of milk. May have to ask the neighbor with dairy cows.

Mountains have had heads hidden. In clouds for the last week. Yesterday they revealed why

Storm is working on her tail. PITA (background) is also. Cardhu and Nimbus with Storm. Babies spreading out more, then clustering back up with Mama again. Another couple of weeks and I won't be able to tell at a glance they're babies, not small adults.

 Got nine eggs today 😊
All 4 silkies (pink/peach eggs)
All 3 Azures (blue eggs)
Buttercup (1blue egg)
Misty (1 blue/green egg)

Raven usually lays daily and if she did I have no ideas where she laid it today, still waiting on Tippy to start laying she is 24 weeks, and the school chicks are 21 weeks old.
9 from 29, 28 if you exclude Mr. P. Not a great ratio my friend. Just saying...

Don’t do this in the dark! I just placed a mouse sticky trap on the floor under the kitchen island and I got stuck myself :rant 🤦‍♂️ sometimes I do the stupidest things. (In the dark, not a good idea)
Cooking oil dissolves the glue residue, FYI. :th
Just be glad it’s not one of those snap traps!

Muffy says Safety First!

Gosh I wonder what colour egg she will lay? I am thinking light green, I think her egg mum is Whiskers due to her having a beard and muffs

And no mistaking that caramel coloured feathers on her neck from Mr P.

Oh no. So sad. Untrained dogs really are a menace around chickens.
:hugs :hugs
I would trust zero dogs around my chickens. Trained or untrained. The tragic stories are limitless. My opinion of dogs is in the toilet and they have earned it through their behavior. I know I am condemning a whole species but the risk is so high. I almost lost Daisy, the greatest hen ever, and Elphie to an awful dog once. Never again. Indiscriminate killing for fun. Nope. Not coming into my yard.

Mine is no better. Found a broken egg in the carport (magpies got to it), 1 in the coop. Storm is still broody, new crew isn't laying yet, rest are in various stages of moulting. Been finding 1-2 eggs a day in the coop, no white ones. Lark and Indigo prefer to hide eggs, the other white layers have stopped for the time being.
