Well, I tried introducing Poppet to one of the speckled sussex's Spot. I was out in the coop with Poppet and Branch when Spot came to the door and wanted in. I cracked it and let her in to observe how she would behave. That lasted all of 3 minutes before she was kicked out. I was alright with the first 2 pecks she gave her. Sort of gentle and on the back. Then she went for her head and tried to peck harder. Nope not happening out you go. I guess to be fair Poppet did ignore the warning gentle on the back pecks and did not respect her space. When Spot pecked her harder she ran to Branch. I really think the best option is going to be to use Branch as a babysitter and build a bond with those 2. Right now I am not leaving them alone in the coop together just to be safe. Branch also has a 30 minute window max where he is content to be in the cage before he starts pacing and wanting out. If Branch continues to behave I will keep up with the multiple supervised visits during the day for a couple more days. Maybe starting Monday if all is going well I will start going out and rotating him in and out of the coop unsupervised. I might if I have time this weekend attempt some very strict free-range time with close supervision.
