While body shape helps, many chickens are only prevented from flying great heights by their own will. They just don't want to fortunately.
Mine seem to really enjoy flying, esp those polish cross chicks - I am thinking their light bodies and nice large wings make it really easy for them.

Even the older girls like Blanche will take flight and fly up about 4’ easily. Funnily enough Mr P rarely flies up on things now. He would rather stay with his ladies Marty and Penelope who can’t fly at all. They both plummet to the ground real well though!

Chicken bones will splinter and damage a dog's mouth and throat. This is the voice of experience as our dog got into the trash once and I have the vet bills to prove it.

That and a baby back rib bone that got wedged sideways between the teeth on the top of her mouth. They were both vet visits.
Yep we had a dog that had a bone splinter in her mouth and that was a mess.

Tech tax payment is required. No chickens were mentioned in this post.

This is we’re everyone is today, they have no interest in going outside and why should they? It’s miserable out there, windy drizzly dreary.

Meanwhile I clobbered myself fixing up the run, squashed my fingers, dropped a panel on my toes (yes I do have steel toe boots - but to lazy to put them on), numerous splinters, and they do t want to enjoy the great outdoors.

I don’t blame poor Misty for staying in.

But Tippy is young healthy and hearty.

Does this make me a bad chicken tender?
For complicated reasons involving a cat that disappeared before her vet appointment I made an emergency purchase of a grocery store rotisserie chicken.
Well obviously the cat demanded a lot of it.
And I ate some (quite good I must confess - I have never tried one before).
But I hate food waste so naturally I boiled all the bones for hours to make bone stock.
I just gave the boiled remains to the Princesses. It was slightly unsettling to see them tuck in with such gusto. Bernie running around with a wing tip in her beak was particularly disturbing.
I mean it is just meat and bones right?
But I feel slightly off about it!
I think it was right fitting of Bernie to do that. She is the stern overlord, after all.

"See folks? This could be you if you misbehave!"

Kind of like the public hangings and guillotining! Everyone wanted to watch, but NO ONE wants to be the 'watchee'!

I have my gang left over turkey from our thanksgiving the other day 😊

My mum didn’t want to give it to them but I grabbed the left overs and threw it into them. Hahaha. And you know I have tossed them roast chicken mash potatoes and gravy which they loved!

One thing through, I never give bones (esp cooked ones) to the critters- they splinter too easily and can get lodged where they shouldn’t.

EDIT - I see that you said the Jones were boiled to the point of being gelatinous, which would be fine - a wonderful treat 😊
