There’s no real sound restrictions in this area of rural America. The almond harvest is in full swing, and even after dark, they are still shaking trees for almonds. I hope my chooks can get some sleep tonight

Can you complain to your township? Maybe ask them to stop at 9pm so people can get some sleep? And not start till 7 am?

Farmers co-op owns the township. The law enforcement agency protects the farmers. The courts are designed to enforce laws against illegal harvesting and theft of crops. Ordinances that contradict farming practices are quickly dismissed as there’s no profit in them. They stopped working after 10 pm. It might have been just a long day for them and they needed to finish a deadline for the harvest. Everyone needs to get their almonds and walnuts!

It’s those cecal poops that get me everytime - slippery stuff on laminate flooring!

I will soon need to keep that door closed all the time to keep it warm in there. But if they get a chance they are sneaking in there.

The weening process may have started. Not sure if babies are weening mom or mom weening babies. Last night, went to check the coop (a bit early to close it). Storm and Cardhu had gone in to roost. The rest and most of the Invasion were playing under the olives in the last of the sunshine. Cardhu was snuggled up next to Storm, who wasn't buk-bukking or calling the babes. More observations are needed.

Same here, they put in two more swine barns up the road and every few months they rotate out the livestock to ship to market, and clean the barns - disgusting but you can’t complain about it, and I didn’t even know they were putting in the two additional barns because I am 1km down the road from them (of course down wind).

Thus not considered a Neighbour, same as the construction over on the next concession and all the traffic now using this road. This township doesn’t allow for open discussion they rush things through without any forums.

Even my neighbour across the road who is putting in a new ‘Nanny Flat’ I didn’t receive any notice in the mail and being a neighbour they should have done that.

I was really surprised at how fast Sophia dumped her kiddos! And it wasn’t even a slow weening, she one day just had enough and pecked at them to get lost! Poor chicks.

Save the stones, make jewelry!

I have a little jar somewhere with bleached kidney stones in it...I might have lost it during the last move. I make pretty jagged ones.

This morning Ash and Liara got out while I was bringing them food, so I was chasing them in jammies and flip flops in the pouring rain! Note to self: make sure feeder and waterer are full before opening the coop door in the morning! I just ordered the big food and water holders though so the little chick sized one is going to be repurposed for grit I think!

I couldn't get a pic...but I think I see fluffy cheeks starting to grow on Thane. I sure hope he has cheeky tufts, that'll be so cute.

And a fluff butt in the making from Ash earlier this week. She didn't want me to get a full fluff pic because she's not done growing in that floof yet.

They can come in the office, I keep it at around 65F in there all winter, it’s where they all wanted to hang out today, can you imagine 30 chooks all wanting to hang out with me while I worked on my laptop?
