Well Marty just laid a brittle shelled egg that broke under her, she was trying yesterday to lay an egg looking all uncomfortable.

The yolk hadn’t broke so when I lifted her off I could see a lovely bullseye germinal spot.

So what do you all think? Should I just throw all the four eggs I have from her stockpiled this past week? and Penelope’s egg under Henny?

Do you all think she could handle curly and Fluffy’s also? That’s a lot of eggs for a wee silkie.

I don’t think she can handle 7 eggs personally…

…. and what do you think of the shape of her eggs? I think they are fine, I did candle them and they do look really porous but I have heard people not having any problems with that…

Here is one with different ‘layers’. But of all of them it has the nicest shape

Am I overthinking this? Should I just shove them all (7) under her and check tonight to make sure they are all warm????

I wrap them in a towel like you would swaddle a baby, start by wrapping around those dealt wings, and if you can wrap the feet if not let the feet and left stretch back so she can’t scratch at you with those vicious claws, then I put them on their side on my lap. Then check them over. I never have help here, no one helps me ever 😟.
I would help you if I didn't have to cross an international border to do so.

I don't mean to boring but I'm repeating myself now.

This guy I met once went to a market and bought a load of eggs. He checked them all out and got himself a lot of chick's. I was just fascinated

Yes, I know it's the wrong time of year but I'm just trying to grasp a way of learning about this way of getting chick's.

The couple that was going to sell me some leg bars, sold the whole flock to a greedy selfish woman and I was gutted. Maybe it was just as well because of my conditions but something is making me want to get more.

Maybe I've got a split personality 🤔 😕 🙃
I believe you should get more. I've been keeping that to myself but if something would happen to 1 of yours you would have a lone chicken. They are social animals and do not do well when alone.
I have had to find chickens on short notice because of a loss. It can be very difficult. It can work out as Patsy and Lilly were emergency replacements. I wanted another leghorn but all I could find were these porch chickens. It turned out great but it was rough there for a while. I will never have less than three again.

I find 4 optimal because mine like to pair off. It's also easier to integrate 2 than a lone hen.

Mornin!
My dog has stopped sniffing right at the hardware mesh. I think Ash pecked his nose. She has no fear of him.
Here are Samara, Ash and Morinth yesterday checking out the potted plant. I forgot to bring my herbs in when it snowed so I'm just putting the pots in the coop and letting the birds have fun.

Ladies are all getting pink to their combs, which is exciting.
