She must have muscles there on her neck (and the skin is gone) or she wouldn't be able to control her neck. I wonder if the skin will grow in from the sides and together by itself or if you should be caring for it in a special way to facilitate that.
Facilitate! :old

The Spud Tedi may have an issue with her uropygial gland. I've noticed when she preens she makes little noises, and finally I've narrowed it down to only when she rubs her beak and head back there. She does little boks. I'll have to take a close look at it, from what I can see as she preens nothing looks odd. When the vet looked at her and it a couple of months ago it was fine.

Anyone have any experience with problems with the gland? I am reading it can develop infections, or get clogged, or tumors.

Good morning everyone.

Princess survived last night and she readyly ate her blue shelled egg but she's not eating dry food at all.
She's still has lose poop and I'm wondering if I should use the canesten incase she's picked up a fungal of some kind. @BY Bob @RoyalChick @Ponypoor.
Marie, I'm sorry but I'm not around a lot right now work is so bad. What makes you think she has a yeast infection? Hopefully others can be more responsive.

I've never dealt with an issue there. 😕

Marie, she may just be stressed. Watery poops for a little while, like a few days, is normal. Goopy loose poops can be the result of the foods she is eating, for instance when I treated everyone to some dried black soldier fly larvae the other day there were a lot of goopy poops the next day. I think it’s the fat content. Remember that any drugs you give her also have effects that she also has to overcome before she is back to normal.
:goodpost:well said.

Well hello!

So glad Eanie is doing better, chickens are pretty tough I find.

I can’t speak to your wee little cockerel, and I would hate to give my jaded advice.

Will you be getting grown hens? Or chicks next year?
Probably chicks. But it just kind of depends. I'd love those pretty jubilee chickens that are all speckled. I know there's a lady who had some chicks at a local sale this past year. But getting older pullets would be good. Better chance of them actually being pullets!
Unless you find a place that will take one or both and you're okay with it (being dinner) then keep Tres back and see how it goes.
Eenie acting more afraid of either of them, or really it's just Manny she wants to avoid?
I'm pretending my boy chooks will just live a happy bachelor life. 🫣

Eenie is definitely afraid of Manny. I've seen her squeeze under the little tables we made for the chicks to hide under to get away from him. Tres is still just a youngster. I've not even heard a crow. I guess he's about 4 months now.

Yes, it's clearly just skin missing. It just looks horrible. What can I do to facilitate it???

there isn’t really much you can do with the wound other than letting it heal, it will be slow - as long as she is eating well and not picked on by the others I would just monitor it.

And how many chooks can lounge under a tree?View attachment 3679353Don't answer, I honestly have no idea. Whiskey, Indigo, and Pear are in a vertical row, with Blanche or PITA on the left, but there are more in there and I can't tell who. It was a big puddle of sunning feathers
Shan is so gorgeous - glad to see every enjoying some sunshine 💕

Hmmm, can you massage it and see if anything is expressed? Of if you can feel any lumps or anything? Maybe a warm wet compress on it to see if it’s just clogged.

I must check Marty’s now that you reminded me. She doesn’t make any sound but because she is bald I came see it clearly and want to make sure it’s ok.
