If I did this they'd be nonstop pecking at my shoes
I think that's their way of asking for something🤣
Oh man, at least if they went for the winter boots it wouldn’t hurt. But Becky (red hen on the right) scrapes and pulls at my jeans when she wants something. I’m always so disappointed that it’s not cuddles! Must find myself a cuddly hen…

I have a hen named Rosie that is kinda skittish by nature and so I never hold her, but when i hold other chickens she pecks and pulls at my leg pants. Shes just possessive and jealous but when I go to hold her she yells and runs away, lol. Oh Rosie I love you! 🐓❤️

Well, Tuff's education on how to be a good boy has started.....and he seems to be heading in the same direction as Hector did.

He tried tidbitting, dancing and eyeing Twirp. She looked at him cocked her head (looked like internal debate), then jumped at him. He dodged and fled. She didn't make contact with him, but her willingness to SLAM a boy for overstepping himself Hector knows well. His wattles healed well and he's been gentle with every girl since.

Twirp (about the same size as my 14 week pullets), a bare 4 pounds soaking wet

And Tuff, a 22 week cockerel: leghorn x hamburg x ee x buff orp. He looks like he's pushing 6 pounds already

Whiskey is at least 8 pounds and Hector is bigger (i suspect close to 10 pounds) and both are VERY respectful of Twirp.

Even Jessica makes Twirp look tiny.

:goodpost:

Yes so true - I do my final check around 8pm when I feed the horses. I make sure the chooks are all where they should be at that time.
My thinking also is, its nice to know where everyones final spot is so if I see a troubling poop I know who's responsible 🤷‍♀️ I am slowly getting on the right side of the chicken learning curve! May will be 3 years and these gals get better with age, dont u agree? This morning its much warmer than the last week so they are so active. Pic below on high alert as I yell at the cat to 'Drop that chipmunk!! 🐿️

What breed are they? They remind my of my gold laced wyandotte Muffin.

I read that as "8 pounds bigger"
No way a chicken could get to those proportions.

My grandmother could really use some thoughts and prayers please. Just found out this morning that her brother passed away early this morning from a heart attack. This is a huge blow to me and mom as well. Uncle Larry has been the only one of her surviving siblings who visits grandma weekly and would call several times a week to talk to her. His visits helped not only grandma but me and mom more then he could ever have known. Just sitting at our kitchen table having a few cups of coffee with him before we woke her up to let her know he was here allowing us to vent our frustrations was healing. He alone knew what we are dealing with and in his way he was the only one who helped. We already told grandma this morning, she demands having the phone beside her in the mornings and we did not want her hearing it from someone else. So far she is taking it well but we can see she is very close to breaking down.
I'm so sorry 😞

Sending you all my thoughts ❤️

Thankfully she has you all to remind her she still has a wonderful family that cares and loves her.

Morning, so very sad to read of the death. I hope gramma is okay.
Some fluffy butts

We're very windy here. I had to go fetch my kiddy pool from the woods behind my neighbors house. We use a pool to cover our firepit so then kiddo and I put a bunch of concrete pieces on top to keep it from flying off again. Should be getting snow around Tuesday.
It's kinda funny, in the cloth diaper community the big diapers are also called "fluffy butts" because of all the padding they have.
