Or maybe it could just be drying off that way, so it looks rumpled.

Did she do a slow molt? for some, they are barely detectable....as opposed to the fast molts that leave them half naked. I had one hen previously that hardly looked like a feather was out of place, but she certainly molted. One wing feather at a time was the tell-tale sign - otherwise I wouldn't have believed it. Check her wing - stretch one wing out and check feather length for all the primarys
I have been keeping an eye on her wings and today she did a bit of flying (because that seems to be what my chickens do!) so I got a good view under her wings too.
All looks fully feathered.
She is very actively foraging but also eating her pellets. No sign of grumpiness.

Is your electric fence put away for the season, or not on? Or they are outside of it?
Fence is on and they were inside it (though Calypso nearly flew over it as part of whatever game they were playing).
It is about 250 linear feet (79meters) arranged in a big circle. So there is lots of space to go nuts and practice flying!
They played until just before dark and then came rushing in like their fluffy butts we’re on fire.
Crazy chickens!

I am thankful to my father for many things. And one of them is his vast collection of wool socks.
Every pair had a hole in the toe of one of them. But they were all identical so I just paired up the good ones.
Like my mother I am not convinced darning is a good use of my time. Maybe one day!

Wool sock tax: the late night flying bully, Piglet, looking like she is a calm, well mannered, and lovely hen. Pah!

When the wool socks are hand made (commercial socks in my size ALL have polyester in them), darning becomes a worthwhile task....until you're darning the area around the darn. Then they get retired to hair curlers or rice bag heating pads. I will agree, though, darning is a pain!

I tried to get Friday pics. They flashed their bloomers at me....and moved the instant the camera turned in their direction.

Even Chia wasn't cooperative.

Belladonna was willing to flash the bloomers (She's finally well covered again!) But wasn't so willing to let me get a good pic of the rest of her
