Will today be the day? Trudy/Judy one of the rocks has been in the porch nest box twice today. The first time she spent about 2 minutes in it before getting out. The 2nd time she spent 30 minutes in it. It is getting late so I am starting to doubt first egg will come today but there is still time. I feel safe in saying she will lay before Friday. Owly pay attention, you are old enough now. The whole house is waiting to see what color egg you will lay. Blue, Green or Pink I am good with either.
Come on girls! Show your Auntie Beccs that you can lay awesome eggs 😊💕

I have given up watching for Pooh and Calypso!
Ya pretty much I have given up, now I not sitting in the office full time I don’t know who is laying where or when! Except Twister - the brat! Still laying by the round bale. I had an earful from my mum on this…

Not sure what she thought I would do to get her to lay in a nest box! She should be giving Twister the earful!

I have a question for you all. Have any of you had a hen actively stalk you, growling like only a chicken can head down looking like a rooster ready to attack? I have never even had a cockerel full in his idiot phase act this aggressive. One of the speckled sussex's is doing this. Fairly certain it is Dottie. This behavior has been building up for about a month now. It started as simply following me around. Then the growling while following. Now she is got her head down and hackles slightly flared. This IS a pullet I am sure of it. I grabbed her yesterday and inspected her hackle and sickle feathers. Rounded pullet/hen shaped. I asked and I am the only one she is doing this too. I am very very close to treating her like a do a stupid teenage roo and snatch her up and start carrying her around while I do chores.
Hmmm well Twister will follow and peck my legs - hard! But she doesn’t growl, and when I pick her up she snuggles and seems to enjoy being held.

Flopsy will also do this to a small extent. But none of my others - I wonder if her hormones are all crazy!

Now I have a question for you. So I caught Mr P making out with Tippy, she was more then willing. But she is not squatting at all for me, and I don’t see her laying any eggs. What’s up with that?

Sounds wonderful :th
I can see it now - Alex landing, followed by 3 elderly nags, and 30 crazy chooks looking for treats, hahaha.

What do you expect from a speckled suspect anyways? :idunno
You have to be careful, some suspects can be dangerous, while others are not. You never can tell!

Your right it takes all types to make up a flock. They cannot all be Butters, Owly's, Branches or Poppets. The flock needs some Momma Hens, Raven's and I guess now Dotties.
