2nd really cold night in a row and I am already over it. 20 something this morning when Rosie got on the bus. Horses water buckets frozen solid and the water hose froze. The leghorns must have started laying as soon as the sun came up. I did first egg run at 9 this morning, 2 eggs froze and cracked darn it.
Cold here too. Down to 39f last night. Come to California, I have room

Xzit tells me when it’s time for her to go to the bathroom. She’ll be persistent until she gets what she wants. She doesn’t like pooping in the house. But she loves her deep hackle rubs and soft talk with me. Rocks have feelings too!
(That didn’t sound good did it?)

I am feeling the same - I forgot to bring the water in over night so the waterers were frozen solid. Fortunately the heated base is working so the nipple-bucket was OK. I think they all know how to use it but it didn't stop them complaining!
I have come in to defrost my fingers but need to go back out with more water and feed.
Even though it is like this every year I am somehow not quite psychologically ready for it!

Last winter I did not mind, raging hot flashes. I preferred working out in the cold. The hot flashes have calmed down now, maybe 2 a month. I feel like my old self, the person who despises cold and wants a steady 67 outside. I even dethawed and filled up the chickens waterer with warm water. Do they approve? NO, they would prefer the icy cold wild water thank you.

Same here man. I had to bust the ice off the water troughs and the duck pools. I doon't wear socks normally so I just slip my boots on without lacing. I used said boot to bust up the ice and instantly remembered I didn't have socks on. The ducks seemed to laugh at me with their little duck chatter

And so you shouldn't!

I will think on this for you.
I'm :he literally banging my brain trying to find solutions
She's so content in her coop and run. She even orders me to take her back to it from the front garden, so she can jump up on her perch. That's unless the neighbours are outside then she peeps through the fence at them
