So far Sylvie and Bernie are coping OK. Sylvie is definitely going for the full naked approach which seems excessive for a post broody mini-molt when she didn’t even stay broody for the full term.
Bernie has regrown her tail and some of her chest but is shedding wing and body feathers like crazy.
Babs hasn’t started molting yet as far as I can see.
And Tassels has decided to stop laying eggs in sympathy but is not molting.
My heated water base is working and tonight I closed the human door and one of the baffles.
I wonder if I should get one of those plastic strip doors to cover their pop door. I’m very cold nights I can fully close it but they are then grumpy come the morning!
I have been closing the door to the Hen House so poor Sophia is warmer and less drafts, she has been sleeping in a nest box poor dear. Same with poor Marty.

I don’t know if mum has been remembering to plug the sweeter heater in for her and any others to huddle under.

At night I have been keeping Red in the feedroom. She seems to be doing ok, and sure likes her grub. Mum is able to get her meds into her - 1/2 aspirin at 4 pm and at 7 am & pm mum has been giving her the liquid Tylenol- she soaks some bread with it and Res gobbles it up. The aspirin she wraps in a piece of bread and same thing Red gobbles it up.

Get another heated panel. I don't see how covering a little door is going to change the temp in your big space there where they roost. But are there breezes?

It's another cold night here on the Ranch. Not as bad as last night but the babies will be happy Friday night when the low is back to a normal 57. Everyone is tucked in. It was too cold for me to get pics of the other pens on the back side of the property. I just did a real fast count and came back in!
