I looked into Speckled Sussex before I got the Marans. Then I was liking everything I read about them. What I was reading was that they were in your business busybodies. Supposed to be inclined to follow you around always interested in what you are doing friendly chickens. Dottie is doing just that just in a more aggressive way. Her growling could be her way of talking to me. She could peck me wanting attention and I would not really think much of it. What unnerves me is the stalking with her head down and hackles raised at times along with the growling. That is taking it from friendly to "what do you think you are doing?"

What prompted todays quick photoshoot was @BY Bob photo's of Lady F and her spots. I adore Lady F, love her spots. I know with both Jubilee Orps and Speckled Sussex the older they get the more spots they get. It is surprising to me, although maybe not to those who have had sussex in the past that the sussex are so spotted so young. Lady F has a year age difference on Spot and Dot so I would expect her to have way more spots then they do.

Dottie, heavily spotted but less so then her sister. She is also lighter in build at the moment. She may be on her way to committing crimes against her owner during the day but, at night she enjoys a good crop massage on the roost.

We think Beetov-hen has a sour crop. It's big and squishy. What should we do with her?

How are you not a popsicle? I'm not a cold weather person. No matter how many clothes you wear, something is going to stay frozen. Then you sweat and get cold again. It's a vicious cycle. If I could, I'd build bedrooms on to the house and the babies could have their own rooms

I am a popsicle! I hate winter, once it gets below 21C (about 70F) I am freezing!

Unfortunately there is no place in Canada that has nice winter weather, so I have to put up with it. This is why we have so many retired Snowbirds here that go south in the US for the winter.

I am not retired and really cannot afford to go south at any rate. So here I am stuck freezing with this weather!

Unfortunately there is no place in Canada that has nice winter weather, so I have to put up with it. This is why we have so many retired Snowbirds here that go south in the US for the winter.

I am not retired and really cannot afford to go south at any rate. So here I am stuck freezing with this weather!

If you were a popsicle wouldn't you be melting if it was over freezing?

The treatment is antifungal cream - but first be sure you have the right diagnosis:
- Is her crop full first thing in the morning before she has gotten off the roost?
- Squishy like liquid?
- Describe what her breath smells like

I understand that completely. I got lucky and my mom lived here. When I busted out of my dad's house in PA, she came and brought me here. My first Thanksgiving I were a tank top and shorts. It was 83. I was shocked
