Nope Hattie is done molting and she takes offense to the term ratty.

Here she is today and there is not a feather out of place.

I bet they were noticing the bit of feathershredding she sports.

I'm Seeing Spots. Lots More Spots.

I was wrong a few weeks ago when I said I thought Lady Featherington was done molting. Only her neck had molted. About 2 weeks ago she started dropping feathers everywhere below her neck. Check out what she looked like.

She already has feathers coming out and check out all the white! It looks like she is going to be "superspotted" after this molt!

I am so excited to see what her new feathers bring her. I'm glad they are coming in fast as it was only 20°F (-6.7°C) this morning.
I have a weird reaction here. Except for the bare bum, she still looks gorgeous to me. Her under-feathers are spectacular. The contrast with the outer feathers is gorgeous. What a beauty even in molt!

I'm wondering if Widget, my Jubilee Orpington, will have more white after she molts. She isn't going "full on bare," but I do see a lot of her feathers around.
Lady Featherington is my first. I have no idea if this is normal or not. We will soon find out with a sample size of 2.

Hey! I am trying to be positive here, and brainwash myself at the same time.
