Fortunately the wound under her wing has not become infected. Each evening since Friday after everyone is roosted, I bring her in the house with saline wash and antibiotic spray. I think she rather enjoys our little evening meets. I play soft music, dim the lights, talk sweet and finish up with a little protein packed morsel. So far so good. I value the colder weather because i feel if it were summer, maybe that wound would not heal as well being hot and the wound not having any nice cold fresh air. My chickens seem to do better in colder weather anyway. The stress of summer heat would make this situation worse imo. Awww, little golden chicken tryin' her best. I will too. Hopefully the wild birds dont let that pile of golden feathers by the garden go to wasteOMG. I hope she pulls through!
Is it bad that they keep laying? Sheba is a laying machine. She began in February and we still get an egg nearly every day! The other girls stopped with the moult, but Sheba didn't moult much. They aren't very big eggs, but they're super regular!Babs worries me. Her tail is really ratty now but she shows no sign of molting and she lays every day. I am wondering if I should try and black out the Chicken Palace windows to increase her darkness. The trouble is the roof ridge vents and soffit vents will always let in some light. I really wish she would slow down.
Princess is with us a lot of the time but she's honestly a compost machine and I can't cope in here without that nappy I've been waiting for for the past 11 days.She should be allowed to be with her family
HahahaDrop the kids off at grandmas huh?![]()
She is looking great!Hey everyone! Just popping by for a few. The girls are starting to look better! They don't have all their feathers back, but I'm pleased with Eenie's progress. View attachment 3703428
Sheba is starting to grow new feathers now that Manny isn't on her back, thank goodness. She even has some downy black feathers in her bare spots on her wings. Tres has yet to start sowing his wild oats, thank God. He's HUGE, way bigger than the hens. I still haven't decided what his fate will be. He's totally cowed by the ladies. Even Eenie chases him down and steals his goodies.It's so funny to watch when he's so much bigger. Poor hen-pecked fella. Here's a perfect example. He's so scared of Meanie it's embarassing. Like, show a little backbone big guy!
Hope all is well with you and yours!
Yes I would say she is a tough birdHawk had my hen on Friday, i saved her and we are recovering. Dont leave them alone for not even a minute. I am beginning to think this particular hen may not see as well as the others. This particular hen was attacked by a fox in June too. She is so tough my Golden Chicken.View attachment 3703605

Pain after eating Belgian chocolate cheesecake sounds like gall stones (assuming you still have your gall bladder).@ChicoryBlue
@every one
As I said earlier I've had a very worrying pain in what I believe to be my upper intestine.
I've been trying to research what this could be. One thing I noticed was I had eaten a Belgium chocolate cheese cake from my local supermarket. The pain started that night. I'm not saying that's what started this but it's the timing that made me think it could be, or a strain.
Anyway. Just assuming it's something I may have ate, I found a clip and I have used that as a guide for a temporary treatment until I can see a doctor..
I didn't have a green apple or fresh mint , so I used a red apple and a pukka 3 mint teabag in their place
