This is why I no longer watch roosting in my coop. It's just too upsetting. I know bad things are going on because some nights they are all together in the big coop and some nights Hattie and/or Phyllis are in the Cluckle Hut. Why? I don't want to know. As long as they are safe, I'm good.
I agree, don't watch! Popcorn regularly chases the Spuds around, and she gave one of the Spuds a hard peck today when she didn't move fast enough. Life in the run is fine and dandy stretches, alternating with sprinting terror escapes. I'm not crazy about seeing the more brutal pecks in the daytime! Added more furniture yesterday, and they are using it. But Popcorn's mission of Keeping The Spuds In Their Place is mostly her day gig now and she doesn't put up much of a gauntlet at roosting I think. I actually haven't seen the last several evenings in the coop on camera. But they're not acting so worried about going in like they used to.
How utterly miserable. Glad the antiviral is helping. Did you have to go into a doctors office to get it? I have never understood the guidance ‘don’t leave the house’ vs ‘get medication as soon as possible’.
:idunno

Get well soon!
No, a video visit. They gave me an appointment less than half an hour from my call (but the practitioner was then 35 mins late...I just hung out here, way nicer than their office). A nurse called back right away, took a list of symptoms and history. Then when I got the script the doc said there are shortages and "if X doesn't have it they'll let me know electronically and I'll send it to Y" (bigger pharmacy but not my preferred), and agreed I should call the place first. DH decided to leave immediately since it's a half-hour drive and told me to call him if the destination was different. The pharmacist told me they would take it out to the car if DH called when he got there and wanted that (he felt fine, always masks anyway). Modern technology worked really well here! If I lived alone I would have had to leave the house and drag myself out and get it from the parking lot, or get a friend to help (available, no worries there).
The Odd Couple sharing an early morning drink before the Pentagonists start creating havoc. I am surprised the water isn’t frozen. Hopefully I can get some better 2fer pictures later - but I thought this coop cam screen grab was cute.

Yes, this is really nice!
Princess is with us a lot of the time but she's honestly a compost machine and I can't cope in here without that nappy I've been waiting for for the past 11 days.

The people that sold me this said, yes they had a medium size so I immediately paid them on receiving that message they then messaged me back, saying sorry we don't respond on weekends that was the last message I received until yesterday.

4 days later I got a message saying the delivery company was waiting to receive the parcel off them then the same again on the 8th day.

Yesterday it was to arrive, then another message it was coming today and still it isn't here.

I wish ebay would ban these lazy good for nothing let down sellers 😞
It sounds as if they haven't shipped it, if the carrier is still waiting to receive the parcel from them. It may be they are waiting on a delivery from their own supplier!
@ChicoryBlue

@every one
As I said earlier I've had a very worrying pain in what I believe to be my upper intestine.
I've been trying to research what this could be. One thing I noticed was I had eaten a Belgium chocolate cheese cake from my local supermarket. The pain started that night. I'm not saying that's what started this but it's the timing that made me think it could be, or a strain.

Anyway. Just assuming it's something I may have ate, I found a clip and I have used that as a guide for a temporary treatment until I can see a doctor..

I didn't have a green apple or fresh mint , so I used a red apple and a pukka 3 mint teabag in their place
Could be lots of things. I hope you get an answer soon!

I can even make my own wine. I call it “Alexander the Grape 🍇!” :D
🤦‍♀️
That sounds like about normal turn-around time for a small business. If you want immediate, I’ve heard those paper face masks work fine.
@Marie2020 Yes, me too, those surgical procedural masks, they say you hook the loops over the wings. It holds the poop close though, feathers get a bit pooey. But in a pinch I'd do that. Or the next idea below

This guy uses ladies' underwear as the outer "holder" and a dust mask lined with a cloth bit inside. I'm picturing the round cup dust masks:
"Mine really didn't take to them at all! I had better success using a small pair of ladies underwear and a dust mask. The idea is the wings go through the leg holes, you gather up the excess over the back and fasten with a safety pin or similar and use the dust mask in the back to catch the poop. I used toddler underwear for the bantams. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/what-did-you-do-with-your-flock-today.1371402/post-27059468
"Yes, the dust mask goes inside. I usually put a peice of kitchen towel or washable cloth in the dust mask as a liner. It has one big advantage over conventional chicken diapers as, because the poop is held away from the body, there's no poopy feathers to clean off. I'll see if I can find the article I got it from." https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/what-did-you-do-with-your-flock-today.1371402/post-27062019

Tiny beige eggs. She is by far the latest to lay of my four pullets that hatched in May, and her eggs are the smallest. Maybe they will become a tad bigger but her hatch sister's have remained the same size.

Of course we do. They are all over the Alps (and the Pyrenees). We call them Aigle royal, which sounds much more majestic than bald !
From Wikipedia: dark green is permanent habitat, light green temporary nesting area, blue wintering.

Agile royal is what we call a Golden eagle. Bald eagles have bright white heads at maturity.
Yes, those maps don't correspond to Bald Eagles in North America. They do correspond to what I know about Golden Eagles here, though they are nesting a bit further south than indicated here
If there is a nap going spare I will happily take it!

If anyone is passing out naps, yah I’ll take one too! 😴
I just had a great one!

Sorry for the grape 🍇

Use your ingenuity. Make one for her yourself. Can’t be that hard, and Princess should be able to be in the house. MHO
I agree - that video she posted of making a knappy out of a sock looked pretty cool and doable! And, if it doesn't get cut quite right, a sock isn't expensive - and you can make corrections on the other half of the sock pair.

I'm reading the article on the chicken diapers using underwear and dust mask cups lined with paper towels. I like the stiff mask idea.
@Marie2020 Princess will probably need to have small practice times wearing something she's never felt on her before.

"I do, however, want to include a quick little note about diaper-training. Do not expect your bird to be chill with a diaper on right off the bat. In fact, expect them to freak out. Don't just put it on and let them go; you need to ease them into it. Put it on for short, controlled stints and distract them with treats. LAVISH them with treats. Make sure they are not stressing out; some birds may never be comfortable enough with it. Some might be comfortable immediately."

Is it bad that they keep laying? Sheba is a laying machine. She began in February and we still get an egg nearly every day! The other girls stopped with the moult, but Sheba didn't moult much. They aren't very big eggs, but they're super regular!
The first year they start laying they can lay through the winter. You will likely find that next winter they stop.

Chickens that are known as production layers which lay eggs every day can have reproductive issues. It is natural for them to stop laying over the winter and replenish the nutrients in their bodies. No matter how much they eat while laying they slowly deplete their reserves. That is why in the late fall you might notice that your hen's beak is lighter in color than it was in the spring.

Check out Sydney’s Beak

This is from April of this year. It is almost all black.

And this is from a few weeks ago. It is much paler with streaks of yellow right now.
