I don't know. My understanding was that it was a surprise research finding specifically in cats.
It is a very dramatic effect - she goes from a hissing, spitting monster to 'whatever'! It takes a couple of hours to wear off at home and she is a little wobbly on her feet - not too bad - basically she sleeps it off. But it is amusing to see how chill she is. She even purrs when you pet her tummy (normally she might bite if you do that uninvited).
Anyway, it is a game changer. Taking her to the vet was so stressful for her and therefore for me. She looked like she would explode and take the vet techs down with her.
Well I might slap you if you rubbed my belly 😊but it does make me very drowsy, except when my legs wake me up (frustration there).

I would say both Pregabalin and GBP will become an anti anxiety med in the future. It’s already being used off label for that.

Anyways I found this for pain control in birds

Seems there is still a ton we don’t know about bird physiology.

Wow, lots of changes since that list was made.
Ok here goes.
Marans: Bubba, Holly, Bunny, Lilly, Baby, Corona and Grackle
Silkies: Branch and Poppet
Cochins: Flurry and Gryffyn
Buff Orp: Siri
Queens: Berthie and Lassie
White Leghorns: Peep 1 through Peep4
Speckled Sussex: Spot and Dottie
Barred Rocks: Trudy and Judy
Easter Egger: Owly
Game: Momma Hen, the old bat is still going strong.
Crosses: Raven the new queen, Squirrel, Blueberry, Goose, Karen, Spooky

No chicks currently or in the works right now. Stable flock with 2 mature roosters. This coming spring I would like to hatch off a few silkies between Branch and Poppet, other then that I really do not want to add to my flock. I do need to make a decision this coming year though. Branch and Bubba will be 3 this spring. If I want to have a son of Bubba's to keep I will need to do a fall hatch or a spring hatch in 2025 with the plans on keeping a boy. I want that son to be raised with his father under a stable flock, it works for me.

Grand total right now: 30
Yes a lot of changes there. 💕

Poppet and Branch babies will be soooo cute! Silkie chicks are so darn tiny!

As far as future names, I have promised Rosie one name. Poor little Poppet has been the subject of different people wanting to change her name but I have stood firm on Poppet. Mom and Grandma think she should have been a Minnie Pearl. Rosie is dying to call her Janet Jackson. Me and Rosie have a deal in place. If we are lucky enough to hatch off a pullet between Poppet and Branch we will keep 1. That chick is Rosie's and it's name will be Janet.

I’m here staring at my broken refrigerator. All the butter, cream cheese, vegetables, all gone. The imported cheeses, the Japanese mushrooms, the tofu and all the special ordered bottles of flavored oriental mixes gone. So much waste, I’m in tears! :hit All the steaks that I prepare for my chooks, gone. Frozen vegetables and fruits I have been carefully saving, gone. The jams and jellies made specifically for me by my close friends, gone.
Only thing worse than this situation, would be a house fire that destroyed everything I have. Or taking my life in the process. :(

Quick, the kids are both napping and there’s a glorious sun break! The chickens booked it for the veggie garden where there’s work to do.

In the meantime, Perry got to go beyond her enclosure to check out the rest of the run while it was vacant… better learn the lay of the land, girlie.

Oh gosh, why is it all gone? Many of those items don’t even need refrigeration. Butter, jams, mushrooms, sauces… they’re all going to be fine.
And a rule of thumb I learned with breast milk: if even a tiny bit of the food still has ice crystals, it’s still considered frozen. So those steaks, if they’re frozen on the inside, they’ll be fine for the chooks.

Good luck with the rest, hope you’re feasting tonight!

Thanks . No I’m hiding in my bedroom now. I will deal with that horrific situation tomorrow morning. Tonight it’s just me and my BoPeeps.
